Anybody BF owners belong to the Escapees?

Post by stevek »

Particularly you Born Free Owners on the West Coast.
They are having a WARE rally.
Or the..Western Area Rally for Escapees.
In Yuba City, CA. April 12 thru 16, 2015.
Anybody here that is going or is a member of Escapees?

Just my 2 cents. I am not behind any organization of this event.

We plan on attending.
$150/ 5 nights.
Plus you have to be a paid Escapees member.
This will be our first RV event.
I think they are expecting over 200 RVs.
Plus...Any words of wisdom?
Thanks

Sorry, I don't have any words of wisdom for a Rally with 200 RV's  The camping group I belong to is having a Thanksgiving Rally next weekend in PA (we camp in PA area once a month) and at the most we will have 20 sites booked and a potluck for 75 people. For our Rallies my advice is:

- Hang out around the campfire and just jump into conversations. Don't be afraid of the "regulars" who have long standing jokes.....we'll gladly retell the story of "Spooning" or our "Gnome" or "Mayoring"

-Stop by throughout the day.....and again chat with people.

- don't be shy in the pot luck line. If it's good and you are at the end of the line it might not be there when you get to it.

- Bring a big plate to the pot luck

- Join in on the conversation on the website thread before you attend. This way it will seem like you already know people.

- Ask questions online and around the campfire.....or if you know the answer let us know.

Thanks Matt.... for all good advice.
This will our first RV get together with anyone.
We have been meaning to go to a west coast Born Free Event, just has been more miles away for us.
So we will get our feet wet with this one.
Any maybe a Born Free event next.

Hard to imagine a pot luck for that many people.
Good thing there is a Sams Club in Yuba City, CA.

Still have been thinking of an informal BF get together at Seven Feathers on Interstate 5 in Oregon.
When we were there the last time, about 20 Chinooks had gathered.
Neat to see the older Motorhomes. They are all fiberglass too.
They told me someone had purchased the molds, and was going to start manufacturing the Chinook again, but on the Sprinter Chassis I think.

Yes, we joined Escapees. Have not attended their rallies--just Born Free ones on West Coast.
We did get several RV Park discounts with Escapees membership--in a couple cases, slightly better than GoodSam or AAA discounts.
Maybe at an Escapees rally, they would group the BF coaches together. Good information to share among the members.

Are you going to Yuba City?

Also we have signed up for the "Rose Parade".
I think it is all sold out, but can let you know how it is.
They have it every year.
