Registrations are now open for the “Discover Westport” Rally, located on Washington’s Cranberry Coast.

24 sites have been reserved for us at American Sunset RV & Tent Resort in this quaint fishing village with charter boats, fresh seafood, shops and restaurants. Among the many attractions here, you will find the tallest lighthouse on the Washington Coast - 107 feet tall, built in 1898, and open for tours.

Bring your bicycle or walking shoes to enjoy the Interpretive Dune Trail along the edge of the Pacific. The 2.8 mile long paved trail starts near the lighthouse and continues north to Westhaven State Park.

The Cranberry Coast gets its name from its thousands of acres of cranberry bogs that produce nearly half of the nation’s supply. The amount of effort these farmers put into producing these tasty delights for your holiday tables is truly amazing, so our Cranberry Harvest bus tour will include harvesting activities, and a visit to a local cranberry farm. Possible other area attractions are still being explored.

Every year salmon are reared in pens at the Westport Marina and two years after they are released, they return, and those who choose not to go out on boats can try their luck and fish right there from the marina floats, with the most popular spots located on the north end. Those of you who would like to try your hand at deep sea fishing for Rockfish, Ling Cod, or Albacore Tuna will have an opportunity to do so through one of the Westport Marina Charter Services. Charter costs are by personal arrangement, however if several members indicate an interest, the possibility of a group rate can be explored.

Various activities are being planned, and a large clubhouse will be available for our exclusive use during the rally. Again, our members will be glad to hear that our dinners and Sunday’s breakfast will be catered, allowing them more time for exploring the area.

A simplified version of our Schedule, which is still being developed, is:

Wednesday: check in begins at 1:00, with Catered Dinner at 6:00

Thursday: Free time, ½ of group will take Westport shipyard tour, Dinner at 6:00, Bingo Night

Friday: Free time, other ½ of group will take shipyard tour, dinner at 6:00, Ice Cream Social

Saturday: Cranberry Harvest Bus Tour, and our, Born Free Dinner at a local Restaurant, Your entrée choices this year are fresh Willipa River King Salmon, Chicken ala Neptune, and Slow Roasted Prime Rib. Please indicate your Entrée choice on your Registration form.

Sunday, catered breakfast, check out time 12:00

As with last year’s Rally, the RV Park is requesting that Coleen and her Rally Assistants handle all reservations, site assignments, and check-in services for our members. All inquiries should be directed to Coleen.
