I - Rally Description

Come join us in northeastern Indiana for fun, fellowship and good times at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds in Goshen, Indiana. Goshen, platted in 1831 and settled by pioneers moving west from New England, is now known as a major recreational vehicle manufacturing center and the Maple City because of its many maple trees. Goshen has a large Amish and Mennonite population and is home to artists, antique shops, specialty shops and cafes. It is within a 30 minute (or less) drive of other Amish attraction-rich towns such as Elkhart, Nappanee and Shipshewana.

The 4-H Fairgrounds is also the home to one of the beautiful Garden Quilts (shown above) located along the Heritage Trail. This 90-mile loop trail includes 16 Garden Quilts and 23 hand-painted Quilt Murals and is the crown jewel of Indiana's Amish country. Additionally, this trail is listed among the most scenic drives by editors of Life Magazine.

Traveling to and from this event in Indiana you will likely see rural farmland with rolling hills, young green corn and soybean plants emerging from the ground, and red ripe strawberries should be ready for picking.

For this rally, we are taking a page from Eric Sandstrom's rally playbook and will piggyback our group on the Great Lakes Area FMCA Rally (scroll down a little and click the Area Rallies button) and enjoy their many planned activities. In addition to all the good things the FMCA rally will have to offer, we will also hold some Club-only activities at our group campsite for a small fee ($15/person or less) to be paid at our campsite. We will circle the chairs and perhaps enjoy a meal (sandwiches and such and a BYO beverage) the first evening (Wednesday) plus some surprises during the rally.

Specifically, FMCA rally activities listed include:

  • 4 nights of camping
  • 3 nights of entertainment
  • Seminars
  • Vendors
  • Factory Tours (TBD)
  • 1 Sausage Pancake breakfast
  • 1 Picnic Lunch and Ice cream social
  • Coffee Hour
  • Optional Events (Additional Fees): Ladies Tea and Golf Outing
  • Sunday Morning Prayer Service
  • Book Exchange

To get you in the mood, here's a video produced by the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds:

Notice: This event is being held by FMCA under FMCA Terms and Conditions and not those of the Born Free Leap'n Lions RV Club. FMCA Terms & Conditions may be found on its Registration Form located in the IV - Registration and Contact Information section.
