Re: New ebikes

Tickled to see your post re the electric bikes. My wife and I recently sold our toad that had been with us since we purchased the BF with the intention of replacing it with 2 electric bikes. It is nice to see that someone also had the same idea. My congratulations on your choice of bikes. It is the ...

Re: steering wander

Should all else fail, you might consider the installation of a Safe-T-Steer front stabilizer or a like alternative such as Roadmaster makes. It, and a heavy duty rear sway bar did the trick for our 2007 24RB. These two installations were made after trips to a large Ford dealership, a reputable front...

Re: Deisel 6.0 or gas V10?

8) Greetings We have a 2007 24RB o the Ford E450 chassis. The engine is gas. A suggestion; should you be looking for more torque for the gas engine, you might consider a Banks PowerPack exhaust system. I had it installed on our coach and it definitely provided more torque, which here on the West Coa...

Re: Shock absorbers

I have just had new shocks installed on our 2007 24RB. From what research I did, my choice was either Bilsteins or Konis. From a number of sources, including several mechanics, I learned that while the Bilstein is a great shock, it is stiffer than the Koni and better suited to large trucks. My broth...

Re: So what RVs to look at, now that Born Free is gone?

Steve We are on are second BF and like everyone else on this forum, we like it very much. A replacement for us, should it become necessary would be a Pleasure Way. They now offer a twin bed, dry bath, 22ft on a Mercedes chassis with the diesel engine. We prefer our 24RB, but as I said, should a repl...

Re: Cure for steering wander

Bill The Ford Dealership (a large one that handles trucks and services RVs) in our area was the first place I took it. They checked the front end, did all the measurements, etc, and informed me that everything was within specifications. I then took it to an independent shop that worked on larger tru...

Re: Cure for steering wander

We purchased a 2007 RB new and it was delivered to us in Sacramento, CA. At the end of our initial trip with it, I was amazed the delivery driver had even got it to California. To describe the steering was "loose" would only be suggestive. At 55 mph, driving it was a two handed white knuck...

Re: Happy Thanksgiving! Need help with water tank issue!

Blake & Linda Camped last month on the northern coast of California and while walking to the office the following am, walked past a late model Class C which was awash in water. An older man was standing outside and I inquired as to all the water. What happened to you, happened to him only he did...

Re: Seeking Guidance: Range Light to dim

Steve We have a 2007 24RB and put up with the same problem for years. Finally my wife put the proverbial foot down and said "fix it". So - I took the bulb out and immediately noticed that it was not clear. I then called Kip at BF and he suggested I replace the bulb; an obvious answer but I...

Re: Permanent Bed Vs couch/dinette

John My wife and I are on our second Born Free. Our first was a 22' BFT, which we found a bit small. Also, I wanted a dry bath. We now have a 2007 24' RB, which we like very much. It has the dry bath and the twin inclining beds on which we use foam pads with Travasaks. For us, that is a perfect slee...

Re: Looking for RV park recommendations along Oregon on 101

Rob & Joan Based on our numerous trips up and down the Oregon Coast, I don't think you will any problems encountering decent campgrounds along the Oregon Coast. We have done the Coast from Gold Beach to Astoria frequently in our quest to escape from the Chico heat. Our favorites are the Oregon S...

Re: When I see a Gas V10 BF w/ Banks Power, whats it mean?

stevek When we were trailer towing, I had the Banks Power System installed on our Chev pu. The result was significantly more power, a cooler running engine, but very little increase in fuel mileage. Sometime back, I checked into having the same unit installed on our 2007 24RB and learned two things....

Re: Steering Stabilizer vs. Anti-sway bars

fourleos Perhaps I can add some further confusion. We have a 2007 24RB which we purchased new and had it delivered to us in CA. When I first drove it I was amazed that someone was even able to drive it out from Iowa to CA. To say the front steering wandered would be a massive understatement. I subse...
