Re: Wannabe One of You
Hi John I enjoyed reading your message. especially in light of our shared experiences: Our first coach was a chinook and we loved the quality and freedom of going pretty much anywhere we wanted due to the size and ease of parking and handling. We found it on one of the online sellers and after much ...

Re: Wide Body Born Free Models
We have a model year 2009, which was actually made in 2008, and it is a wide bodied and higher roof model which was built on the chevy kodiak chassis. according to the specification information we received when we purchased ours, the 28' was the smallest model featuring the wider bodied design. it i...

Re: Can I run my AC on 110 volt 15 amp at a campground?
we had a breakdown last summer and had to park in the repair shop parking lot waiting for service to our born free. the only power available to our coach was a 15 amp circuit and it was hotter than hell !! we tried everything we knew but could not keep the breaker from tripping when the ac kicked in...

Re: Seeking Guidance: BFT wheel under coach
my 28' rear side bed born free has the wheel you reference and it is all metal with no rubber coating and it came that way. i doubt if you did find a replacement with the rubber coating/wheel on it, the first time you scraped a driveway it would probably tear it off. that's the reason they are all m...

Re: Awning replacement
I recently damaged the left side of my dometic awning and had to find some replacement parts. i found the customer service people extremely helpful. they told me where to look on my awning to find the ID numbers for both the hardware and material parts of the awning. i would suggest you get as much ...

Re: All that's wrong with the RV industry (and buyers) summe
Hi Roger You and I share the privilege of owning the Born Free on the Chevy Kodiak chassis and we love ours as you do yours. There is obviously some "snob appeal" when it comes to RV ownership, but to me it reflects the state of consumerism in our country today which hasnt really changed m...

Re: Thanks for Welcome
Hi Bill Just adding my welcome and wishing you safe and happy trails. You will have many fond memories to look forward to; and, speaking of memories, my wife and I have been to Helena a couple of times and really enjoyed it. One of the things we try and do during our travels around the country is to...

Re: It is a Born Free
my wife and i live in a senior community in aurora, co and is our second such type; the other being a sun city community outside of georgetown, tx. my first reaction to your comments is, if you haven't tried it, dont knock it. there are many reasons for living in an age restricted community: safety,...

Re: Navigation system in Freedom
hi chris i have an in dash navigation/stereo/back up camera unit installed in my 2009 model that is made by pioneer and i am sure different from yours; however, my unit has a small round recessed opening that allows me to stick a pointed object (ball point pin) into and it functions as a reset butto...

Re: Chinook MH and BF pic
The coach house is the only mfg. that comes to mind (as you say) making a molded fiberglass shell. interestingly enough, their specs do not recommend climbing around on top of the unit and thus the reason they dont have ladders. maybe not as structurally sound? dont know the only other class c that ...

Re: Chinook MH and BF pic
Our first RV was a Chinook Destiny on a chevy chassis and bought it used from a dealer in Pa. It was very nicely equipped with nice cabinetry and leather upholstery. Our sofa made into a 2 person bed but was not very comfortable. The big plus for us was good gas mileage, 15-18 and small enough to pr...

your discrimination issue could happen anywhere, but since the presidential election and all of the craziness going on we have elected not to venture into sunny california anymore.
