Re: Roof leaks question

I used Eternabond around my cabover window, which constantly required recaulking (every year!) due to leakage. Not after I did the Eternabond. Here is a thread with pics of mine: https://www.bornfreervclub.org/bulletin_board/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4820&p=27418&hilit=Eternabond#p27418 It's o...

Born Free Sighting

Today as I was traveling the Pennsylvania Turnpike, I was passed by a Born Free that had no decals, no windows and nothing on the roof (AC, etc). It passed me right as I got on at Donegal, and I tried unsuccessfully to catch up to it to see the plate and/or any business sign, but it was going too fa...

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

Oh, I see. But if I am continuously plugged in to shore power with a Battery Minder on the coach batteries, then I don't risk overcharging?

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

Bill, I'm not asking whether I can use the Battery Minder, but whether just being plugged into shore power will keep the battery charged (without a battery minder). I thought there were 3 ways to put charge on the coach batteries - from the chassis battery as the truck engine is running, from the ge...

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

If I keep the coach plugged in to shore power over the winter, will that keep the coach batteries charged and desulfated, without the need for a battery minder?

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

Yes, I found the same thing on the BatteryMinder website (apparently the 12117 is an exclusive to Northern Tool). However, I do have one other concern. In reading comments elsewhere, and confirmed on the Battery Minder website, this model "Will drain battery if connected without AC power."...

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

Bill,

I was just about to order the Battery Minder you recommended, but when I read the features on Amazon it says. "(NOT recommended for deep cycle batteries)."
Why does it say that? Should I be buying a different one?

Re: Selling BF since BF closed

My thought when BF closed was that it would actually increase the value of used coaches, since there will be no more! But then it surprised me that people would actually be financing a used RV. I don't finance anything that is not more or less a "necessity," and I don't see an RV being in ...

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

Thanks again, Bill. If I want to start the generator (which I do every 2 weeks in the winter for "exercise") do I need to disconnect the BatteryMinder? If so, can I just unplug the extension cord in the garage, or do I need to disconnect the alligator clips?

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

Ok, now for the logistics of connecting, since coach is parked 20-25 feet from garage. Would I run an outdoor extension cord from outlet in garage and plug the box part of the BatteryMinder into the extension cord? And just keep the BatteryMindar in the compartment with the batteries? Would it fit, ...

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

Thanks, Bill. Can you recommend a battery minder for me? My coach is parked about 20 feet away from my garage, which is where my electrical outlets are.

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

Bill, you are always such a wealth of information. I just got 2 new batteries for the coach. When I took it in for state inspection, I had them check the coach batteries, because they were no longer starting the generator and I would have to start the truck and then I would start the generator after...

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

The question about the battery tender wasn't really specific to winter, except that I use the BF less and have to remember to start it and exercise the generator. I've read others mention about trickle chargers, but didn't realize that I could plug the coach into the outlet in my garage, and then ha...

Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot

It's that time of year again. I live in VA, but I have short trips planned for mid and late October. If temp drops below freezing overnight before then (or even during the trips), will it be ok if not winterized if I am plugged into shore power, open cabinet doors, and keep an oil-filled radiator pl...

Re: Selling BF since BF closed

Bill, the BF bankruptcy is what the woman was told by the financing person at her bank. And ACV is actual cash value.
