Re: Towing capacity 24RB 2005

Regarding the rear weight issues. Having a 27’ we saw the weight issue on the rear axle (E450). What concerned me more was that we were at tire capacity. Michelin makes commercial C Metric tires that will provide a significant increase in capacity vs standard LT tires. I forget the exact number but ...

Re: Towing capacity

Hi, trying to determine if my hitch mount has been reworked, how does mine look? It is difficult for me to determine if your frame was reinforced from pictures. The increase in strength that I was referring to was at the end of the factory truck frame, where the frame extension is welded on. On our...

Decals source - 2006 and newer

So I was about ready to paint on graphics to replace our faded silver graphics on our ‘08 RSB. One last internet check and I found RV Decals Direct has this series of graphics in silver, charcoal and burgundy! They also have the Born Free Lion logos! Price seems very reasonable and you buy individua...

Re: On-board air compressor

Our 2008 has the Schrader valves ahead of drivers side tires, but those lead to the airbags. I added a compressor to be able to fine tune suspension height or handling on changing roads. The airbag change in height on our 27’ long unit is really not that great though, so having an on board compresso...

Thanks John for the added info! Just what I needed. I’m learning more about the liquid springs, very interesting setup.

Re: Interested in feedback on a F550 chassis

I love my royal splendor it is 29.5 feet or the 27 foot version with no slide. I like the none slide model as we are always home. It has plenty of power to tow my jeep. It drives like a dream I have owned 6 rvs including big diesel pushers as well as three BF. The slide gives you more floor space b...

Re: Request for Photos of Pull Up Table in Detail

Let me know if you still need this info. We have the same table in our 2008. I can take some pics and provide dimensions, depending upon what you need.

Re: I got locked out of my BF, 3 rd time!

So we have a 2007 E450 chassis. We both stepped out at same time, with RV still running and doors locked as they shut! Yikes, we were in the middle of the Watkins Glen racetrack. What we’ve learned, is for some reason, the lock switch on door is in such a position that you can activate it as you exi...

Re: Television Changes

We’re currently trying the hotspot capability! Just 1 week into our trip so far though. We have service from spectrum, which uses the Verizon network. They do say they throttle after a certain amount of data or hotspot usage. But we have not hit that yet. However, a neighbor and fellow camper said h...

Interested in feedback on a F550 chassis

So we’re enjoying another trip in our 27’ RSB with our trusty dog. But, she thinks a born free with a slide may provide a bit more space to sprawl out. For me, I think the heavier chassis with diesel would make towing a toad or our boat an even easier drive. I miss the torque and engine braking that...

Re: Towing capacity

We have a 2008 27 RSB with the E450 chassis and Ford V10. Since this has a long extension on the chassis frame, I had similar concerns. Born Free rated it with Class 3, 500/5000 lb hitch. I was planning to be towing both a loaded Jeep wrangler or 23’ boat at about 5,000 lbs. Pur dealer worked with a...

Thanks John. Not sure how close our coaches are but any info is appreciated. Will save me time from removing items to look for proper mounting area. I’m going to need to start chasing down similar coaches soon.

Re: rear wall construction for running camera wires

We have a 2008 27’ RSB and I installed a wired camera below the upper rear clearance light. At same time, I installed a floodlight in that location that helps if you are backing in at night. I recall Snaking through back wall was not difficult as you can access area behind shower wall through rear s...

Re: Roll bar cover

Hi Carol, I know it’s been awhile since you posted, but just in case you were still looking. I’ve had those screws out, but don’t remember details. However I believe it’s just a screw ( not a bolt) that threads itself into a steel hole. Maybe it stripped due to vibration or someone over tightened it...
