Re: Muffler for Generac Generator

Packing more steel wool in the OEM muffler quiets it somewhat.

Has to be '84+. It's a water cooled Vanagon. The pedal powered RV could beat it :!:

Re: What do you put in Black Tank for Smell ?

When we bought our BF we were already into a routine of only using the enzymes when going long periods between dumps or when the vent odors were stinky. Soon after we ran out of enzymes we just stopped using them and never bought anymore....and nothing bad has happened since. 8) Sam Ryan summed it u...

Re: What do you put in Black Tank for Smell ?

About 10 years ago we covered this discussion pretty good. You might want to check it out. There is quite a lot of very helpful info that is still up to date and relevant. Geo Method © What wasn't covered there was using the black tank in cold weather camping and that is covered here: Winter Use -Mike

Re: Sewer Boom

Kinda reminds me (in a perversely evil sort-a-way  ) of the water canons the riot police use. Hmm... Is Clark Griswold or cousin Eddie planning another RV vacation :?:

Re: Critical Preventative Maintenance

Dallas, I've never experienced a sudden failure in a water pump. They've always given me adequate warning (i.e., noisy bearings or seeping coolant leaks). Also, I haven't had one fail in the last 20 years (4 vehicles w/~330K mi). Prior to that every vehicle I've ever owned had at least one water pum...

Re: My Carpet came unglued and is falling down from OH Bed

I have used the Super77 for small patches of the wall carpet that came loose or that I had pulled back for access to various wires, fasteners, etc. It's also useful around the shop for all sorts of things. Depending how you apply it, it can be nearly as strong as contact cement. Tip: Technique is ev...

Re: Heater and mirror issue

Russ, I may not have been clear. My furnace runs fine down to at least 10.5V and your's should too. I'm guessing that you have diminished airflow that is just on the edge and when your battery voltage drops slightly the fan motor slows slightly causing the sail safety switch to open - shutting down ...

Re: Heater and mirror issue

Tahoe, the furnace has a sail switch which prevents the furnace from lighting unless there is sufficient airflow. I'm guessing you have a partial blockage of airflow or possibly something slowing the blower motor (dirty or dry bearing, brushes, etc). Mud wasps' nests are a common cause of problems l...

Re: Built for Two real world mpg

I have researched these forums and the internet and have gotten very conflicting info. I hear some comments that they get around 9 mpg while others say they get 12-13. Can we get updated observations/comments on this? Thanks. I suspect those conflicting numbers are all pretty close to reality. I ha...

Re: Trickle charge chassis battery?

If so, what amperage would you get? Like maybe 5 amp? Steve, bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to battery maintainers - ~1 amp is fine. What you want is something smart enough to maintain float voltage with varying temperature and for the type of battery you have (i.e., AGM, lead-acid)...

Re: Trickle charge chassis battery?

OK. We have everything plugged in - to shore power and the battery tender to the cigarette lighter. Do we keep the battery switch by the door in the "on" position? Do we keep the house batteries hooked up? Enquiring minds want to know if we are doing this right. Sue Yes, since you've had ...

Re: Winter Storage

In addition to winterizing the plumbing, the batteries (coach and chassis) and gas engines (coach and generator) will require periodic care or preventive measures before storing depending on the length of storage. Over the years we have amassed a ton of info on those topics in this forum. I would su...

Re: Trickle charge chassis battery?

...our coach requires 30 amps for the inverter to function. Can you please elaborate on that statement? I can't conceive a scenario with an inverter that requires an AC connection. Did you mean to say 'converter'? But that also results in a non-sequitor :?: :? Maybe you simply meant to say that you...
