Re: Rear View Mirror Needed

Thanks Bill. Ford changed the design at some point, so all these new replacements are different.

If I can get an original the swap will be easy because the outer part where the mirror is can be removed with two screws.

Five minutes with a screw driver and three wires to solder.

Rear View Mirror Needed

I need a 1998 E-350 drivers side rear view mirror for my trusty 24RB.

I've tried some RV salvage yards.

Later (not sure which year) the design was changed.

Picture attached.

Thanks!

Re: Towing capacity 24RB 2005

One look at the factory installed rear bumper support convinced me that it was prone to failure. Only two bolts that are close together are supposed to take all the vertical loads from the tow ball way back on the bumper. See pics for my fix: Two bolts on each cantilevered extension tying them to th...

Fuel Pump, etc.

Concerning the fuel pump in my previous post, it is a GSL395. Numerous of these come up on a search. Takes a 20 amp fuse.

If anyone can tell me why I can't post a reply on the original I'd appreciate it. There is a red star in the upper corner of circular topics column.

Re: Fuel Pump, etc.

I drove it with the exernal fuel pump and flogged it climbing a long hill without any fuel starvation. Intank pump was disabled via cb. And you can leave the pump installed wihout using as the in-tank pump will force fuel past it. However, I took it back out to save corrosion, etc. For power I ran a...

Fuel Pump, etc.

I had always worried about a fuel pump failure on the road and the inconvenience of a couple days delay getting it repaired. So I experimented by installing another pump external to the tank to see if it would pull fuel through a dead in-tank pump. The answer is yes, so I have a kit in the coach tha...

Onan generator muffler

Any suggestions about where to find a muffler for my 1998 BF Onan generator? At 268,000 miles the coach is still purring along fine and I plan to keep fixing stuff rather than spending 10 times as much for a new whatever. The rear end and tranny were recently replaced and the motor is next. That wil...

Re: Deisel 6.0 or gas V10?

My gas powered 1998 24RB is running strong at 242,000 miles. Most of the miles have been on interstates cruising at 75 mph pulling a 35', 3000 pound glider trailer. Mileage: 9 MPG. I change the oil once a year at 5 to 10 thousand miles and use synthetic oil. Until 2003 all Ford engines with aluminum...

Re: Engine operating temperature.

My previous post mentioned "clogging" but missed pointing out that there are two such situations - internal and external. In my case it has been internal clogging that necessitated installing new radiators. External clogging (bugs) can be checked by shining a light from the engine side for...

Re: Engine operating temperature.

My 1998 24rb with 235K miles has gone through two radiators. The 195 degree thermostat gets maxed out at about 206 degrees (as shown on the scan gauge) and further load (long hill out West) shows the temp going up and the fan clutch kicking in (you can hear it howl). This brings the temp back to the...

Re: Tire blow out

Remove the wheel, fill to 75 psi,or whatever, and put in a tank, pond, lake, tub, etc to see where the bubbles are coming from. Must be a leak. Also, I would determine why your TPMS didn't give an alert. Speaking of which, I finally tossed my TPMS due its unreliability and giant programming hassle a...

Re: Leak fixed, new leak, and misfire

I've done the spark plugs and coils on my '98 V-10. The plugs are mostly by brail and not easy, but with every socket extension known to man it can be done. The coils are "easier" but still a pain for the center ones. Loosen the fuel rails and disconnect the electrical clip to each injecto...

Re: Gray tank leak

I had a grey water tank leak caused by driving over rolling turf and bottoming the tank on the ground which shifted it and broke the pvc pipe on top. It wasn't too much effort to lower it and repair the broken pipe. First find an embankment or some way to elevate the aft end above the ground for wor...

Re: new tires 1994 president rb

I'll second Bill Hemme's suggestion. My Michelin Transforce tires have 92,000 miles on them with plenty of tread left. Stay tuned to the air pressures in the duals especially. Not bad to have a pressure monitoring system, but otherwise look at the rear duals at every stop to check for a partially de...

Re: Generator questions

I'd try a local RV place first. I see a number of them when I Google "Scranton RV repair." Talk to the service person at one and see what they say.
