Re: Winterizing
We've done both. We use the anti-freeze every year now, for no particular reason. I made a fitting that was male garden hose to air hose: IMG_3122_300x200.jpg This is a three-piece fitting: male garden hose to male pipe thread; female pipe thread to female pipe thread reducing coupler; male pipe thr...

VersaHaul motorcycle carrier
We sold our motorscooter. Now we'd like to sell the carrier we used to carry it around the continent. IMG_0193_small.jpg IMG_0194_small.jpg It's a VersaHaul Sport, model VH-SPORT RO with the carrier taillight kit and anti-tilt lock bracket. This carrier fits into a 2" receiver. Also included ar...

Re: Electrical issue - Batteries stop charging on shore powe
We had this problem with our 2016 coach. The problem was a fused relay on an inverter board. We had to have the board replaced. We decided that what caused the problem was that we had the coach shore power plugged into an outlet that had a GFI. GFIs don't like surge loads. In the coach, we had a sma...

Water system winterization
We're familiar with two methods of potable water system winterization:
- Blow out the water lines (and fill the traps with antifreeze)
- Fill the lines with RV antifreeze

https://www.bornfreervclub.org/bulletin_board/download/file.php?mode=view&id=6394 Our church introduced us to this. We keep a copy for each of us on the refrigerator in our RV. We got holders at our local fire station, but I will have a supply at the National Rally in Rapid City this September ...

Disinfecting the hot water heater tank
When you disinfect your water system, do you disinfect the hot water heater tank? If so, is the anode rod in or out?
I haven't disinfected our hot water tank, mostly because I'm afraid of the chlorine aggressively eating the anode rod or eating something else.

Cracked cab roof
We have a 2016 Royal Splendor on a Ford F550 chassis. Yesterday, when driving through the rain, water dripped onto my left knee through the handle mounted on the door frame. This has happened before and I thought I had plugged the leak. When we got home, I checked the roof of the cab and found two c...

Re: Route wires through refrigerator roof vent
WiFi Ranger recommends placing their unit 2' away from other items on the roof. I could have done this by placing it way at the front of the roof or way at the back. In either case, there would be a lot of wire exposed to the wind. I decided to place it between our fan cover and the TV antenna. I fi...

Re: Route wires through refrigerator roof vent
Once the cable was pulled through, I drilled pilot holes for the screws I used for cable clamps to hold the cable in place. Here's the completed result: IMG_1649a.jpg The WiFi Ranger cable is the white one looped at the back right. The power cable is plugged into the mating plug I connected to an un...

Re: Route wires through refrigerator roof vent
There's not a lot of room to work in the drawer space: IMG_1653a.jpg Fortunately, I had a right-angle drill head I inherited from my father. After rebuilding and regreasing it (nothing is coming easy on this project), that worked well: IMG_1654a.jpg There's a paint stir stick taped to the top of the...

Re: Route wires through refrigerator roof vent
The job has been successfully completed. So all may learn, here's a walk-through (with pictures!) of what I did. The solar panel and TV antenna cables currently go through the roof-top refrigerator vent: IMG_1645a.jpg There seems to be a chase on the exterior wall of the coach and these feed into th...

Route wires through refrigerator roof vent
Has anyone done this? The wires for our solar panels and TV antenna run through the refrigerator roof vent, then inside the coach wall into the space behind the upper pantry drawer. I want to mount a WiFi Ranger antenna on the roof and run the wires similarly to the other wires but I can't track the...
