Re: Who all carry a CB Radio in your Born Free?
I put mine in originally as it was required for a caravan. Recent caravans I have been on have only required FMRS radios. The "about once a year" average usage is right..just use it when in a major traffic jam to find out what's going on and listening for options. Mine also has a weather r...

Re: WOW, Born Free is coming out with Mercedes Sprinter Cha
Plus a couple of other considerations: Fewer Mercedes vs Ford repair locations and I wouldn't want to take a diesel requiring Ultra Low Sulfur south of the border.randallrae wrote: It all comes down to price and capacity .

Re: How many of you wish your Born Free had a built in Step?
We carry a fold up step with us. Keep it in a custom denim bag made for it (so the metal step doesn't scratch things up) and stash it behind the chair next to the door. Its easy to grab, set up, and put away. Even so, we seldom use it, only when there is an extra stretch from the Born Free step to t...

Re: WOW, Born Free is coming out with Mercedes Sprinter Cha
Just can't see how Born Free can build anything similar to their products onto a Sprinter chassis as they are too limited on weight.

A favorite of ours is Sea and Sand RV park north of Depot Bay. It has an ocean view section and is adjacent to a large beach.

Re: Holding tank odor
When traveling, there air pressures within the RV can be different especially if driving with windows down, potentially pulling air up from the tank. Best you can do is make sure toilet is flushed with bathroom door closed. Also, do not flush when you have the fantastic fan on blowing air out of the...

Re: exterior side door very hard to open
I'm not sure what you mean by top and bottom jaws, Mike. My latch has a single C-shaped piece that rotates around the post when the latch is closed to hold the door in place, so either you're referring to the top and bottom ends or that C as the two separate jaws or we have very different latch mec...

Re: exterior side door very hard to open
Ralph, I took a look at the latch on mine and when it is open the "jaws" are wide open with the top jaw all the way to the top and the bottom jaw all the way to the bottom. When it latches the top jaw comes down and latches and the bottom stays down. Not sure the bottom latch on mine is wo...

Re: exterior side door very hard to open
I am still around. :) On the bad news side, the hinges in your pic look different to mine. On the frame side of my RV, the hinges have a vertical slot that allow vertical adjustment once the crews are loosened. I don't see those in your pic but you could take a closer look and see it they are there....

Re: How not to fill your fresh water tank.
Wow, didn't know or think it was possible that could happen. I always fill from the fill port. I've have missed the "gush point" a few times but only by a minute or so, but now I will always be more careful about it. Realize its not fun to report a self-caused mishap but this is good info,...

Re: Extension cords and adapters
Speaking of voltage drops, should I also have something like this installed? http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Indus ... s=EMS-HW30 Where do you put it, and how long would it take the RV place to install it? There have been some past discussions on this. I am a strong believer in having this and al...

Re: Extension cords and adapters
In my 8 yrs/ 80,000 miles have only used the 50A to 30A adapter once, and that was to lone it to the neighbor camper whose 30A plug in the park's box wasn't working.

Re: Cabover window
The short answer: you're close to the factory so I would make an appointment and have them fix it. My outer glass cracked once compliments of a semi throwing a rock during an Alaskan trip. Factory shipped out a replacement and I had a local auto glass company install it. As the discussion shows ther...

Re: V10 Tune-up, fluid changes, steering stabilizer and shoc
I waited until a little past 100K to change the plugs on my '99 ('98 ford). I had the concern of "if it's not broken don't mess with it". Took it to the local Ford dealer and reminded the service person of the spark plug issue to take care in replacing them. I have put on over 10K since an...

Re: New Winegard antenna
I have been interested in swapping out the Delta antenna on my 23RK. Ken at BF told me they only install the Jack as the Winegard doesn't have room to lay flat. How have you solved this and where did you get it installed? This is interesting as a few years back (2009?) I had the factory replace the...
