Re: Tankless hot water heater

John, we did! We contacted the company that purchased Girard, the original manufacturer, and were given the replacement model number through a chat! We just had it installed 2 days ago and it appears to work, for a mere cost of close to $1300 But, you really need hot water. We were lucky to find a v...

Re: Tankless hot water heater

Thank you, John, that is an idea that we had never heard. At this point we have communicated with the company that now owns Girard and have hopefully found a replacement that will work. We will see in a week or so! If it does not work, we will contact you for more information. Thanks for the idea. S...

Tankless hot water heater

We have a 2015 Royal Splendor that came equipped with a tankless hot water heater, a Girard 2nd generation. It has always been a problem and now does not function and parts are no longer available. Our repair person is having difficulty finding a new tankless heater that fits. How anyone had to repl...

Re: Two Born Frees in same camp

Thanks, John. Just had it “fixed” again, over $500 and light just came on again. 5 different Ford dealers and 2 truck places have tried to fix it. Will try to find someone at Ford corporate to talk to. Right now it is pretty worthless. Can’t drive it far and sure can’t sell it. Very disappointing.

Re: Mackinac Island, MI Visit

Hi, Dallas, you are going to visit our prior home, northern MI. We have never taken dogs to Mackinac Island but left them in the rv in the parking lot of the ferry for the day. The weather was favorable, fan on ,etc., so neat was not an issue. It seemed very safe. The island is quite small so one da...

Re: Two Born Frees in same camp

I have a question regarding the Ford F550 truck in the photo and the one owned by John. We also have a coach with the 2015 Ford F550 and have had nothing but trouble since the first year with the service engine warning light. The coach has been serviced 5 times for the problem, at least twice with p...

Re: slide out not responding, HELP

I just saw this. Yes, you need the e brake to extend and retract the slide but you do not need to use the levelers to operate the slide. We have not had a single issue with the slide on our 2014 Splendor but the levelers are a different topic.

Re: Using shore power to charge house batteries during stora

A related question to my previous post. If we are plugged into 20 amp power, can we leave the refrigerator on for short periods while in storage, say 2 weeks or so. Thanks!

Re: Using shore power to charge house batteries during stora

Our 2015 Splendor inverter did not work well while plugged into less than 30 amps and Firefly confirmed that a 30 amp power source was required for this inverter so we had the same installed at our house in MI. Are you saying that plugging into a 20 amp power source will charge the house batteries w...

We have had no problems in the last 2 years but we keep it oiled. Hope we did not just jinx it!

Re: Kudos to Born Free

Same trailer, different park, says Kaycie Musgrave. In Cincinnati tonight, people who were in the same park in Clinton, TN last night on the trek north, wanted to know about our Born Free. We are downsizing at age 75, but agree with Dean, we will keep this coach as long as we can drive and travel. I...

Kudos to Born Free

Hi all. We are on our way to northern Michigan from sunny Florida. Along the way, we continue to have inquiries about our 2105 Royal Splendor, Miss Kitty, and even people taking pictures of her! They all like her looks, her super Diesel engine and size and want to know where to buy or see one. Sadly...

Re: Tank heaters

Thanks, Monti! We found the manual and it confirms your advice. The battery drain is important to know but we have shore power so we will turn the tank heaters on tonight. 22 degrees is too dang cold.
