Re: Cover for BF24'

I purchased an ADDCO 52843 last year for my 1999 24RB. It was far too big and made out of some fabric
that ripped easily.

Good luck, Roger

Looking for a cover for my 24RB this Winter. Any recommendations, brands to stay away from, etc.

Thanks, Roger

Re: Kwikee battery tray

Thanks very much, Bill. I have a good idea now of what I'm facing. I have some larger hole saws so if I do my measurements correctly, I should only need to drill one on each side. Not sure how to ask next question. We have two layers of fiberglas. One on top upon which the battery tray sits and anot...

Re: Kwikee battery tray

Hi Bill...

What is the diameter of the holes you cut?

Is the diameter of these holes large enough that you didn't have to cut additional
holes to mount the new battery tray?

Re: Kwikee battery tray

Hi Bill...

I was thinking of doing the same thing. Are the two hole patterns close enough so that
you only have to make one hole for each side?

Re: Kwikee battery tray

Thanks stevek for the info. I ordered one as it seems to be the best buy around.

Thanks also to all that replied. I still have to figure out how to get the existing tray out. There is no
access to the nuts on the bolts nearest the door. I have a sawsall so I'll make something work!

Re: Why so different than nada prices and why no activity in

Several years ago the wife and I went out RV shopping. After doing the rounds of the local dealers, I remarked to the wife that most looked like they were assembled by drunks wearing blindfolds! I found an ad for a BF on Craigslist and, when we saw the coach, I was immediately impressed by the quali...

Kwikee battery tray

The battery tray in my 1999 BF has frozen up solid. I tried to order a new one through Amazon but the delivery time is very long. I plan on buying a Duracell 29HM deep cycle battery from Sam's Club. This is a sealed unit that doesn't require pulling out to check electrolyte levels so a fancy battery...

Without wind tunnel testing, It's all guesswork. Being humans, whenever we make an "improvement"
we tend to see an improvement even if it's imaginary. It's called the placebo effect.

Re: Clearance lights

I used a hemostat to hold the wires when pulled out of the roof. Harbor Freight has them listed as "clamp pliers"! I snapped off two of my clearance light while shoveling off snow last Winter. I ordered replacements and it looked like a simple 10 minute job to replace one of them. WRONG!!!...

Re: Trailer Hitch Cargo Carrier

My rig came with a spare tire mount that fits into the hitch receiver. There is a large nut welded onto the top of the receiver tube and a hex head bolt that can be tightened down to keep things from wobbling around. Works well. I ordered a Pro Series 63153 60" x 24" Hitch Mounted Cargo C...

Re: Rear Sway Bar Installation

I installed a Hellwig 7805 1.5 inch dia sway bar on my 24RB. It felt MUCH more stable when
cornering. It didn't feel nearly as "tippy" as before.

Re: So, what do you HATE about your Born Free?

My 1999 24RB has the bathroom lavatory drain piped into the BLACK water tank rather
than the GRAY water tank! Caused me a bit of bother before I found this out.

Trailer Hitch Cargo Carrier

We are planning a long trip next month and I thought it would be nice to have some extra cargo space. I've been
looking at the various hitch mounted carriers and associated bags. Any recommendations or brands/types to stay
away from?

Thanks, Roger
