Re: Article by Owner of a Born Free in FMCA Magazine

Just stumbled over your response post after what seems like almost 1/2 year. Thanks for your nice comments regarding my setup. Interesting adventure on I-70. Glad you made it. I really like your Scrambler and its color scheme. What a beauty. We have a guy here in our San Jose 4x4 club who wheels his...

Re: Article by Owner of a Born Free in FMCA Magazine

Nitto Ridge Grappler 285-75-17 on FN Wheels 17x8 small.jpg In early 2014, when we started with off-roading, I had a Remco rear driveshaft disconnect installed. Here is a link: https://swdriveline.com/remco_driveline_disconnect.html It works well despite us taken our FJ over the Rubicon Trail and Sw...

Re: Article by Owner of a Born Free in FMCA Magazine

Just seeing this. Good catch Nick & Dee Dee. You can blame this article on us. Attached is page 16 of the February 2018 Digital Edition in case somebody is interested in reading what this was about. Not very active on this forum here as we got more involved in off-roading. Our Born Free is still...

Re: Whats the steepest "grade" sign you have ever seen?

Sonora Pass, California, Eastern Sierra, at 26%. We were towing our Toyota FJ Cruiser up the pass, but decided mid-way up it might be safer to disconnect the FJ and drive our Born Free 26RSB up solo with the FJ following on its own power. We just had a Banks system installed prior to this (Oct 2016)...

Re: Trailer Hitch Cargo Carrier

Roger I dont know of any to specifically stay away from. But I would suggest whatever you get that somehow you stabilize the darn thing from rocking back and forth in the receiver. I know there are several different types of anti tilt/anti wobble brackets out there on the market but I have not see ...

Bill, I know we can be exasperating sometimes, but I think Sam Ryan has a point in that we would like to know if full body paint jobs that BF contracts out are poorly done. Calling Kim, or anyone at BF for that matter, may not get a good answer. After all, they would not want to admit any liability...

Not sure if this is common knowledge, but there is a service/access hole in the driver side kick panel (covered by a black, round plug/grommet). Pull back the carpet and you'll see it - remove it. Not a huge hole by any means, but it allows feeding a wrench through to reach the driver side upper sho...

Re: Front Floor Mats

Does anyone know a good source for all-weather, rubber floor mats for the Ford E-450? I have a 2002 24ft RB. Thanks! You may want to look at these (item 44042) at etrailer.com. Someone else from Leap'n Lions recommended these to me a while back. I like them because they are split to accommodate the...

We had Super Springs installed on our '07 26RSB a couple of weeks back, just in time for the new season. For quite a few more $$ than the original poster I have to say. But that's just California. Since they don't interfere with the factory installed air bags I left those in place - barely inflated ...

The Netherlands -that may well be. I believe later a Dutch guy got into importing Born Frees. The very few we imported found homes in Austria, Belgium and Germany.

Born Free in Germany - front page cover of 1993 Mobil-life

Most of you may not know that, but in the early 90's Born Free made a splash on the German RV landscape. I've attached a couple of pictures with text which may tell (part of) the story. While living in Florida and after viewing a Born Free at an RV show there, we (my wife and I) were so taken by tha...

In the meantime the Born Free website has been updated to include pics of the new 27RSB. http://www.bornfreemotorcoach.com/index.php At first I thought this is nice, some evolution, but after looking closer it seems to me they went backwards. As Ed "ewgaman" already commented on, the class...

I should have mentioned that, if analog pass-through is desired, Artec makes other 12VDC models in the same lightweight housing, namely the Artec T3AP Pro DTV Converter Box (see more here: http://www.ezdigitaltv.com/Artec_T3AP_Pro.html). It's just that at one point they dropped this feature from my ...

small, lightweight Digital TV Converter Box c/w 12VDC input

Our 2007 BF26RSB came with a 12VDC LCD TV mounted to the center cabinet door of the cabover entertainment center. Unfortunately, the TV did not have a build-in digital TV tuner suitable for digital over-the-air broadcast. Shopping around for a small and lightweight converter, we found the Artec T3AP...

Detlef, is the white area painted or is it the gelcoat that would have been masked off and not painted. Looks great, BTW. Ed, Good question. I was sure the white looked painted, but I double checked the documents which came with our BF26RSB. According to these, the white area is also painted (calle...
