Re: Daytime running lights (DRL)

Search "Daylight Running lights kits" and you will find a selection to pick from. I bought a kit to make the front turn signal lights become daylight running lights with my Miata. The turn signals still act when needed. Not too hard to wire up, and you are only powering the front turn sign...

Re: Don't forget to check your tires.

If anyone needing tires is near Manchester, PA, which is an hour north of Baltimore, I bought Michelin LXT's mounted on Ford dual type wheels for less than $120 each, same size and model as was on my BF. They are essentially new tire take off's from E350 vans Quigley's converts to 4 wheel drive, and...

Re: Born Free won't start

The Ford fuel pump is a known weak point. I'd replace it now, before it strands you somewhere less convenient. It has given you notice, ignore at your own peril. Don't refuel the gas tank, and drive it to the repair shop while it is running.

Re: Born Free won't start

My 29000 mile old fuel pump recently failed. The pump was entirely fine, then failed totally. I put some gas into the intake just downstream from the air filter using a big syringe. The engine would catch for a few seconds, ruling out everything but the fuel pump. It was suggested to crawl under and...

I do believe that is what "Bert" is using in the current season of Doc Martin, with some yellow paint. For fan's of the series, I read that there will be another season next year.

Re: No Pets

You will often see mention of "No Smokers" also. Not only for RV's, but houses, and all sorts of used items. Because there is a significant number of buyers who prefer something that has not been exposed to things some find offensive, you can increase the market appeal and possibly value o...

Re: Who all carry a CB Radio in your Born Free?

I like Waze on my phone better than using a CB, much less intrusive. It has automatically re-routed me around traffic issues numerous times, as well as alerting one of revenue raising locations. The amount of data it uses is quite small.

Re: Engine scan computer

I sent one of my Scangauges back for a software upgrade, it was not very expensive. Perhaps you can have yours returned to a functional status. You likely have more than one vehicle to use it in. If nothing else, it is handy for resetting codes when the check engine light goes on in nearly any car l...

Re: Looking for creative way to mount Kayak

Ed & Beth, Sea Eagles look good as well. I liked the Sea Eagle marketing and pricing, especially the Needlenose 14. After checking, I preferred the kayak and the paddleboard I bought, even though they were a bit more costly. Red paddleboards, for 2015 has a great manual pump, best I've ever wor...

Re: Looking for creative way to mount Kayak

Inflateables have come a long way, and although not perfect they work very well, and are easy to transport. Suited more for the casual recreational user. I have a Hobie inflatable kayak with the standard Mirage pedal drive and an optional sail kit, sailing rudder and turbo fins. A high quality kaya...

Re: Shenandoah NP

Beautiful park, no problems traveling with your BF. If you camp in the park, there is no electric and limited generator hours. When it is not humid and hot, it is nice place. Gas up in Front Royal, if you are coming from the north.

Re: Trik-L-Start

If my 2003 BF has an emergency start button, I am not aware of it. Where should I look for it to be located? So far, I have never had the need for it, I keep a battery tender on the engine battery, it is always topped off.

Re: How not to fill your fresh water tank.

Thank you for sharing this educational story. I have filled my water tank in a similar manner, but so far always shut the water flow off before any disasters occurred. The good news is that you will have a fresh new tank with nice clean, drinkable water in it. The carpet is probably cleaner too. I w...

Re: Does anybody know how to "dumb down" the Fan-Tastic Fan

If you wipe clean the rain sensor periodically, it works well. The sensor is the copper strip you see with the vent cover open, when you are up on the roof. A small amount of rain will get past it for a short time before it closes, not enough that I consider it a problem. I find I need to lube the v...

Re: Have Born Free BFT - has anyone installed a front bike r

The hitch installation really wasn't that tough a job with some planning, and the hitch is extremely strong. It's now $170. I got the BF stuck in the mud at a winery concert up the hill amongst the grape vines, and was pulled out by this front hitch. The bike rack in my photo's is gone, I now have a...
