Re: Recommended tire pressure
The only way to determine the proper inflation pressure for RV tires is to use the inflation guide published by the tire manufacturer and to know the weight at each tire position when the RV is loaded as you usually travel. My F-550 came with Continental tires and I obtained the inflation guide for ...

Re: Diesel advantages over gas
Bill, Yes, I didn't proofread closely enough about degrees vs percent. I hate it when I miss those things! The way I finally settled on climbing hills with the Lazy Daze was to keep the RPM at 4,000 and let the transmission decide how fast it would go. Yes, it was LOUD and I don't think I ever attem...

Re: Diesel advantages over gas
In a word, the advantage is power. We live in Colorado and routinely travel over mountain passes that reach 11,000 feet and camp at elevations of 10,000 feet or close to that. We previously had a Lazy Daze 27’ unit on an E-450 chassis. It had a GVWR of 14,500 lb. and a GCWR of 20,000 lb. with a hitc...

Re: Tow Brakes
John, I use the SMI Stay-IN-Play Duo on my Honda CR-V. It gives the same reliable performance as the SMI Air Force One.

Re: New Owner questions ... Glad to be here!
Hi Carol, We use the SMI Stay-in-Play Duo on our 2005 Honda CR-V. The only thing I changed from the recommended installation is I moved the LEDs that show when the towed brakes are applied to the dash of the Born Free. This required running one extra wire, not a big deal. I want to know when the bra...

Re: Dead truck battery
You mention that you are using a trickle charger. A low-cost trickle charger can destroy a battery over time. The safe device to use will usually be called a battery maintainer or a battery minder. They will adjust the output voltage to the proper float level for the type of battery in use (flooded,...

Re: Dead truck battery
The new Ford Diesels, like most newer vehicles, have a substantial parasitic load on the batteries. It is not a problem if they are driven every few days but if left to sit for a month the batteries will often be below 50% charge. As I recall, on our F-550 the chassis batteries will be at about 12.3...

Re: Does anybody carry tire chains.
I carry a set of cables that will fit the outside duals to stay legal in most locations that require chains. I don't really expect to use them. If the 4 wheel drive isn't sufficient to get through I will probably park it and wait for better conditions although if I get stuck, I would try them to get...

Re: Infared temp gauge
I have been using an infrared temperature gauge for several years on 2 class Cs and a Class A. It just takes a quick walk around the unit pointing it at the surface of the tread on each tire to detect any under-inflation problems. The actual temperature will vary with conditions. What you would be l...

Re: Electrical Short? Help
If your microwave outlet tested OK you do not have a short in the wiring. I assume that it tested OK because the electrician found 120V at the outlet. A short would have tripped the circuit breaker and resetting it would only cause it to trip again. It sounds like your microwave just died a horrible...

Re: Shore power doesn't work...
It sounds like it might be a good idea to test all the outlets in your house. A simple tester like this one makes it an easy job. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Gardner-Bender-120-VAC-GFCI-Outlet-Tester-1-clam-5-clams-master-GFI-3501/202867890?keyword=polarity+tester Before I got the Progressive EMS I u...

Re: Shore power doesn't work...
It sounds like that remote digital readout is probably for an electrical management system ( perhaps a Progressive Industries unit) that does not allow power to pass to the RV if any of several dangerous situations exist in the incoming power. The reverse polarity indication means that the 120 V out...

Re: Looking for Majestic or Imperial Owner experiences
We have a 2015 Triumph Royal RB on the F550 Diesel 4X4 chassis. I can't give you any feedback about the Majestic or Imperial models but the F550 diesel chassis is a tremendous improvement over the E450. We briefly thought about the gasoline version but quickly discarded that idea because it only com...

Re: Progressive Industries 50 AMP surge protector with 30 AM
There is no problem doing that. However when you connect at a post that has only a 30 Amp outlet, you will need an adapter on each end.

Re: Furrion Plug, what does RED light mean?
According to the Furrion web site, the red light does mean reverse polarity. Looks like you need to check your wiring at home.
