Re: Toilet securing

When I purchased my 2005 in 2010 the toilet was raised up a fraction of an inch. At first I thought it was normal but looking under the coach I discovered that the black tank had been forced up thus pushing the toilet up. My tank is surrounded by some substantial sheet metal and it was a chore getti...

Re: Will my Fridge work out of level, on electric only?

Quote from Norcold manual: CAUTION: The refrigerator is made to operate within 3° off level side-to-side and 6° off level front-to-back (as looking at the front of the refrigerator). Operating it at more than these limits can cause damage to the cooling system and create a risk of personal injury or...

Re: Battle born batteries

I purchased a Renogy 170 AH lithium battery two years ago at Walmart for $980. This was probably a mistake because shortly after it went up to $1400. Solar is my main power source so I upgraded my charge controller to one rated for lithium. It's also recommended that you upgrade your converter/charg...

It's definitely a Born Free. Note the grab handle in the right of this photo:

Re: Did Born Free build a Travel Trailer?

As far as I know, they built one prototype. It was on their lot for two years in a row when I attended their factory rallies. It was very heavy even though it was built on an aluminum frame and they wanted big bucks for it.

After looking closer at mine, the whole bed would be removed.

Re: Convert cab-over bed to entertainment center

Here's a couple of photos of the entertainment center in a 2004. If your 2008 is similar the portion of the bed from the hinge toward the rear of the coach would be removed and the cabinet would set on the front of the overhang and the top could be fastened to the roll bar. https://i.imgur.com/cdwZ2...

Re: I saw a Ductless Mini Split A/C and heat pump on a MH

Good advice from Bill. To add to this, 2000 watts of panels would measure about 140 sq ft. This would mean an area of about 8 ft by 17.5 ft and weigh about 300 lbs. You would also need more batteries. I mounted three of my four panels on the side of my coach. They can be tilted in place or removed a...

Re: I saw a Ductless Mini Split A/C and heat pump on a MH

8.5 amps at 120 volts is 1020 watts. If connected to an inverter that would be an 85 amp draw on your batteries. You may be able to run your A/C for about an hour.

The mystery of my reduced propane pressure

My problem started about two months ago. I have a propane Buddy Heater that is plumbed into the low pressure just below my cooktop. The heater worked fine until I lit a burner on my cooktop. The pilot flame for the heater would reduce and shortly would shut off. I also noticed that when I lit a seco...

Two Born Frees in same camp

Born Free sightings are quite rare so what are the odds of two in the same camp boondocking in south Florida?
The coach to the right is mine and the other belongs to Pat aka deanpscott. He purchased his coach from a member on this forum.

Re: AC Power problem

Start your generator and see if you have AC power. If you do, most likely your transfer relay is shot. The relay is most likely behind the converter/power center.

Re: Inverter install '99 RB

If you connect your outlets directly to the inverter, the inverter will have to be on any time you need 120 volt AC even while plugged into shore power or when on generator. This also limits you to a maximum of 1000 watts. You won't be able to run your coffee maker, toaster, hair dryer or any high w...

Re: Sensar wall plate connections

Are you sure it's TV2? On my '05 there are two coax cables connected. Looking at the back, the cable on the left is antenna and the middle coax is for cable tv which comes from the connector in the outside shower.

Re: Shock absorbers

I finally got around to replacing my shocks. I went with Bilstein on the front and Monroe with the coil over on the rear. Good thing I have skinny fingers because a couple of spots are near impossible to get to. Monroes on Amazon were $99.46 free shipping plus tax = $106.94 for the pair. Bilsteins f...
