Steering/Handling

When we first took delivery, our 2007 24RB, it had a bad case of front-end wanderlust. After being told by several dealers that it was within Ford tolerances, I had a Safe-T-Steer device installed. Cured approx. 80% of the problem. Not being wholly pleased with the steering performance, I finally we...

Re: ck - putting water in coach house batteries - how often?

Mary I am sure you will get numerous replies to your questions and all will be informative. I will pass on the following: one; wear very old clothes or a throwaway apron when checking the batteries. Over the years, due to my carelessness, I have lost several shirts and pairs of pants due to battery ...

Re: Rear Sway Bar Installation

Thanks to all for the replies re the rear sway bar. We have the Safe-T-Steer on the front and that has helped tremendously, but will give Henderson's a call or stop by there later this year as we do travel through Grants Pass several times a summer. :D

Rear Sway Bar Installation

We have a 24RB. We are considering having a sway bar installed in the rear due to a tendency of the coach to wander, especially during windy periods, but also when just driving down a roadway. My question is to whomever might have had this done; did it materially increase the ability of the vehicle ...

Re: Furnace troubleshooting

For what it is worth, we had the same symptom with our heater. The fan functioned well, the heat; well not so much. Through trial and error, discovered the fault lay with the thermostat. Took the cover off, moved a wire that was making contact with another, tightened the screw and the heater has wor...

Re: How common are Wild Turkeys?

You wish to see wild turkeys. In Chico, all you have to do is take up golf. And there they are. For some reason, golf courses and turkeys get along quite will together. Undoubtedly due to the fact that the turkeys realize that most golfers can't shoot a gun any better than they can hit the wee littl...

Re: Question about tire valve stems

Trix We have just had new tires installed on our 24RB with the valve stems in question. I asked the shop re replacement valve stems, though said I would like to continue using the solid valve stems that were on the Born Free. I was told that the valve stems were good, but that they would replace the...

Re: Anyone tow a Honda Fit?

Not a Honda Fit, but we did tow a Honda CRV with automatic and AWD. The vehicle towed well but getting going every morning was a bit of a nuisance as the engine first had to be run for a bit, then there was a procedure for running through the gears on the transmission. To add to the negative side of...

Re: Tire Replacement

Dallas

Going back a bit to "replacement tires", and your questions, I have replaced the Michelins that came with the 24RB. The Coach now wears B F Goodrich, LT215/65 R16, E. A commercial tire that gives a noticeably smoother ride than the Michelins. :)

Just an observation. What in the world would we do without Bill Hemme and his highly helpful advice and suggestions.

Thank You Bill. :)

Re: Tire Replacement

Dallas

Would have replied earlier, but the computer took a nose dive and finally have it back from the shop. As for tires, still undecided but am leaning towards the Toyos. The Michelin LTS is a possibility but when one compares price and reliability, the Toyo seems a better deal.

Re: Tire Replacement

Sam In reply to your statement re two types of Michelins, that has not come up in my research here in California. What I am hearing from several national outlets is that a change in tire size, i.e., narrower tire though of greater height from the ground will provide a smoother ride as it gives great...

Re: Tire Replacement

Sam Which Michelins we have is at this point immaterial. I have no intention of using that brand as a replacement. We have had Michelins on our automobiles in the past and have never had a problem with them. The Born Free is a different matter. Perhaps if we had a Peterbilt semi-truck, then I would ...

Tire Replacement

We will be replacing the tires on our Born Free in January. We have had enough of the rough ride of the Michelins so are now looking at either Toya or B F Goodrich. If anyone has had any exposure to either or suggestions for another tire possibility, would be interested in hearing anything that migh...

More power - yes. I had the system installed on a Chev pickup some years back when towing a travel trailer. Definite increase in the power. Fuel mileage re gas; not so much. I do not know about diesel.
