Re: Adding a seatbelt??

We had three seat belts for sofa in 2001. They were fastened through floor with large washers top and bottom and placed directly below seam between seat and back cushions. When not in use I coiled them up on the floor. If left in place when sofa used as a bed there can be uncomfortable lumps. Hope t...

I too believe cracking outer door increases convection flow but have found this necessary only in 90+ parked on sunny side.

Re: I'll have a cold one, or in other words-Fridge

On occasion when parked with frig on sunny side and on propane I put a 6 inch fan with 2 D cells at bottom of refrig. on low setting. It actually moves quite a bit of air. Batteries last a long time. Also leave outside vent door ajar. All this is done only when it is hotter than anybody ought to be ...

Re: Drivers seat trim

Mark,
If I understand correctly you are referring to plastic around the button which releases latch. Methinks that is from Ford and likely you will have to buy a new belt.

Re: Recommended tire pressure

John,
Nope. In my view a lot of folks carry too much pressure in front and not enough in rear. It is a good idea to weigh each wheel though.

Re: Was Born Free ever 100% Factory Direct?

To follow up on the factory direct comment, in 2001 there were at least three. One Carson City, NV, one So. CA, one FL.

Re: Was Born Free ever 100% Factory Direct?

We were on AK caravan trip with John Dodgen in 2007. He went on at great length about an earlier experience with selling through dealers which almost bankrupted the company. It sounded as if, during a downturn in business, that either "committed" purchases were not made, or that units prov...

Re: Daytime running lights (DRL)

Dallas,
I may be wrong on this, but do believe our 2001, with 2001 chassis, E450 did have DRL. If all were built that way, maybe a fuse or something is cause of you not having same. Any other 2001 chassis owners listening?

Re: Do you use your fridge all year? How often do you defros

Norcold frig on our 2001 ran a defrost cycle automatically. At first I was worried that something was broken when it warmed up. Not sure about current Dometic although for up to a month frost accumulation has not been a problem.

Re: Rear bumper dolly wheels

I would leave them on, if for no other reason than protecting waste water tanks. Dragging the hitch doesn't give me a good feeling either.

Re: Solar Batter Charger - Seeking Guidance

If I understand your question, no charger is needed if exercise every 2 weeks means driving for 30-45 minutes. I have long been OK exercising monthly that way. If you have a generator, be sure it is run also, maybe while doing the drive.

Re: Need a Ford truck specialist in Denver

Our local Ford dealer also is in the RV business and they will happily tackle any motor home. Not so good news is that their ability both on chassis and RV is quite ordinary.

Re: New Owner questions ... Glad to be here!

I would search out a propane dealer who understands the hardware. You might have bad batch of fuel, water, or whatever. RV dealers may not understand enough. Good luck!

Brake Buddy worked well for me. For solar put as much wattage as will fit on front horizontal and rear facing slope. Bring wiring down frig chimney.
