Re: Refrigerator on propane or using an inverter to provide

Well I guess I never heard of a situation where an inverter was employed to run an A/C. If in fact that is the case it would require an 6000 watt rated inverter assuming the A/C draws about 20 amps to run it. That would require a current draw in excess of 400 amps from the house batteries which wou...

Re: Refrigerator on propane or using an inverter to provide

Bill, I think he is saying the AC is being powered by the inverter, which draws down the batteries faster than the converter can recharge them - via generator or AC. This begs the questions: Why is the AC connected to the inverter when the coach is running on AC and what else is the inverter powerin...

Re: Rear Side Couch vs Rear Side Bed?

We had the same salon sofa mounted in the rear with a home made, matching oak, fold down, Murphy table across from it. The RSS (Rear Side Sofa) mods were done by the factory as if they were the standard configuration - perfectly professional. Also took it to Flexsteel in Dubuque and had additional s...

Re: Window glass replacement source?

In addition to going directly to Hehr to purchase a new window you can also check out companies that will fix a fogged window rather than replace it. Here in Florida there is a company called Suncoast Designers Inc. who do that. I have several friends who have used them and have been very pleased w...

Re: Tappan convection microwave question

As long as the convection mode is using the heating unit and not microwave heating, it is safe to remove the turn table. However, you might find that it heats unevenly depending on the size and shape of your pans. By asking you to use the rotating platter, you are forced to use smaller pans that lea...

I'm happy to report the $10 HV rectifier (ordered from Russia  ) arrived early and it fixed my Panasonic. Thanks to those that responded - the hive grows smarter. I love this forum.

Re: Microwave Convection Oven

Ok, so I have a couple of questions. 1) Looks like our Panasonic Microwave / Convection Oven (NN-T888S) may have prepped it's last meal.... 2) If I can't fix it, any suggestions on a replacement?... I'm curious BikerJohn, did you fix or replace your MW? Mine failed the same exact way last week but ...

Re: Selling BF since BF closed

One thing is sure though: Every RV sales person will be talking about it in terms that are to his company's advantage. Be expecting it and do your own research.

Re: Spark plug blowout

I'd check torque to insure the plugs were at least as tight as spec'd but I wouldn't move them unless they were under torqued. If they are under torqued, loosen them 3/4 turn, start engine and idle it for ~30 seconds to remove carbon that might knurl the threads, remove the plug and put the new one ...

Re: Letter from new Born Free President & CEO Jeff Butler

Sam Ryan was a bully, plain and simple. Can't remember how many emails I sent to Bill Hemmer complaining about Sam. He was the same on the old Leap'n Lions bulletin board. He is truly missed in the best of ways. I remember Sam getting bounced from one of the old usemet groups 20+ years ago. He's go...

Re: swapping 1000watt inverter/charger for 2000watt

Check the size of the 12VDC wire powering the unit and make sure that it meets the 2Kw replacement's mfr's gauge specs for the wire length being used. You are doubling the potential power draw and the wire gauge size requirements will increase as well.

Broken Air Bag Bracket

This broken air bag bracket could very well be another problem associated with a pot hole we fell into near Ventura about 7 years ago. The pictures at vendor websites for the e450 Firestone air lifts conflict with each other but the user manual for the Firestone manual identifies my bracket as a par...

We got one from Costco about 6 months ago. We set it on the console while driving and play the cell phone thru it. We listen to Audible books, podcasts and music while driving. And, it pauses whatever is playing to pass through phone calls (hands free) and turn-by-turn instructions from Google Nav. ...

Re: Should I have an Inverter

We had a number of 12vdc devices with our old RV. When we bought the BF, about 12 years ago, we changed to satellite TV and got a new computer, etc. At that point I noted that the market was limited for 12vdc devices. They were available but market choices (i.e., brand, quality, price, etc) and opti...
