We had the same performance problems with our Generac Guardian RV generator as described in this thread. Then, after having two different factory authorized service centers work on our generator, the gasoline engine would run fine but the generator wouldn't put out any AC power at all. After asking ...

The big bang occurs when the motor coach chassis bottoms out and hits the rear axle. When I had a 2005 model, I increased the air bag pressure to 60 pounds and that stopped the bottoming out on most bumps. On my 2008 model I increased the air bag pressure to 90 pounds (100 is the manufacturer's maxi...

Congrats on your purchase. This post is for the OP (original poster) and anyone else...I noticed the cover that folds back to reveal the stove top. Does anyone know..was that a built-in for BF or is that commercially available now? I would love one. Enjoy your first trip. We once purchased a black ...

The wheels on my 2008 E-450 came with metal valve stems factory installed. The following is the link to the wheel liners and valve extenders that I apparently have: http://www.phoenixusa.com/view.phtml?vehicle_search=1&make=FORD&model=E450&year=2008&vs_cat=429__WHEEL+PRODUCTS&f_m...

Last year we drove from Maine to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. We spent five days on the road and stopped a few times to see friends and relatives along the way. Interstate 40 parallels old US Highway 66 from Oklahoma City through New Mexico. We had our towed car with us and we stayed at the Encha...

When I bought my 2008 Born Free, it was on a 2008 Ford chassis and Ford provides road service for the three years or 36,000 miles the chassis is under Ford factory warranty. I have been told that Ford sub-contracts this road service to another department within Coach-Net. When my Coach Net membershi...

We have the same problem with the carbon monoxide detector beeping in our 2008 24RB even though the battery is new and fully charged. The CO detector is defective and we plan to replace it. Meanwhile we have removed the battery to stop the intermittent beeping. We never had a problem with the CO det...

Norm, it is hard to know where to begin. 1) Under the bed on the passenger side we put the spare tire, being careful to not interfere with the inclining bed mechanism. Under this bed between the spare tire and the front passenger seat we place emergency kits and equipment that we won't need very oft...

Speaking of pictures -- inside the front covers of the March, April and May issues of Motor Home Magazine there is an advertisement showing the Born Free CEO looking at a picture of a 2008 24RB model. We think that is our Born Free! We know they were using it for photo shoots just before we picked i...

Ford Motor Company must have finally gotten the right idea! My 2008 Econoline E450 chassis came from the Ford factory with metal valve stems. Incidentally, the wheel rims now seem to be thicker, and they have four holes instead of eight. My old eight-hole spare tire rim still fits on the front hub, ...

A lot of different water leaks have been described in various places on this forum, but there is one that I have not seen mentioned. When I sold my 1998 23RK to a friend I thought that I had fixed all problems. However, the carpet under the passenger side sofa kept getting soaked. My friend eventual...

I believe that in my old 1998 Born Free the tail and brake lights were connected to the Ford chassis trailer towing circuits. I had to replace one of those fuses when my brake lights quit working. Perhaps someone who has a 1997 or 1998 Ford Econoline owner's manual could tell you what the fuse numbe...

Our first Born Free was a 23-foot Rear Kitchen model with a two burner range top. We traveled and lived in the motorhome about six months each year. The propane regulator was broken and the stove didn't work for two years before I got around to fixing it. My wife never knew that the burners didn't w...

We are looking forward to attending the FMCA convention and seeing the other Born Free owners. The entry date given to us is Saturday, 17 March 2007. We enjoyed the 2005 convention at Perry when we parked with the Freyes, Wilsons and others.
