Re: Disinfecting the hot water heater tank
I do run the bleach water into my hot water heater when sanitizing the fresh water system, leaving the anode rod in. After leaving the bleach water in for a couple of hours, I drain the hot water heater by removing the plug/anode rod and refilling with fresh water. I have done this for 20 years, fir...

Re: RV Newbie got really lucky. Plenty of questions.
When I ran into a similar problem, I called Kim at the factory. Unfortunately, he was not very sure the fresh water system would hold up at that temperature. We changed plans and did NOT travel to the place intended. Now, if you want to try some things, here is what we do when temperatures dip into ...

Re: slide out not responding, HELP
First, a word of warning: I have never owned a unit with a slideout. So, what I am about to say may be pure garbage! First, look in the owner’s manual, which I hope the seller gave you. Maybe you have forgotten to throw a certain switch or something. Second, check for a blown circuit breaker. You ma...

Does RV pink antifreeze deteriorate?
We have not yet dewinterized our Born Free. We probably will not be taking any trips this year, so are wondering if we can just leave the RV winterized through this warm season and next winter. Does the antifreeze break down, or will it still protect the water lines properly for this length of time?

Re: Electrical Cord Weather-Guard
Actually, I had one of these surge guards and had it fail due to water damage. The instructions clearly said to keep the unit upright during rains. Well, while in Canada, one of the pedestals had the plug installed upside down, so we could not get the guard to stay upright. That night it rained fair...

Re: 1999 born free outlets not working
Have you checked for a flipped circuit breaker? Is your coach equipped with an inverter? If so, make sure it is turned on. Your outlets may be wired to that.

Re: Use floor wax on tires
Kumquat is NEVER exhausted. Over the winter Kumquat is moved onto the front lawn so the snow plow guy does not have to maneuver around him. This is the first year Kumquat has been moved, as until this year Kumquat was our emergency energy source during power outages. We now have a whole house genera...

I don’t know any facts one way or the other, but it does make your tire look pretty.

Re: Using shore power to charge house batteries during stora
We have Firefly and the Outback inverter in our 2017 Spirit. I really don’t think you need a 30 amp circuit to run the inverter. We do not have one and we connect our unit to a 20 amp outlet. We can have problems if we use lousy or long extension cords. The inverter needs to see a minimum voltage (I...

Ed Newman and I have exchanged a few emails in the past few weeks. Here is a link to a topic he posted here recently:

You can try PMing him to see if he has any information. That is how I got in contact with him.
