Re: Grey water drains to Black water tank! ?

Our 2006 24RB did the same, as does our 2017 Spirit (renamed 24RB). I believe all rear bath models did it this way. I don’t know about rear side bed models or any others. Basically, Born Free tried to split the drains half-and-half. The RB models have the kitchen sink and shower go to the tank on th...

Re: inverter not powerig 12 volt system

Dumb question: do you have the battery switch turned on? If you only have the Outback inverter/charger turned on, you will not get power to the lights or the DC input of the refrigerator (although you should have voltage to the 120 volt inverted outlets). It is also possible that you don’t have the ...

Re: Caster BFT

Dallas, our 2017 Spirit (a.k.a. 24 Rear Bath) drags frequently also. Perhaps a bit more than our 26RB did. We also notice that some intersections are worse than others (also the bottom of our driveway since getting it paved). We just go with the flow and take turns slowly. ‘Tis the way life is. And,...

Re: finding replacement screen for windows

Can you tell the brand of the windows? Your unit is quite old, but most Born Frees came with Hehr windows. You could try contacting them to see if your windows can have screens.

Re: No power to outlets when connected to shore power

Try unplugging from shore power, then turn both the inverter and battery switches to the off position for a minute. Then try plugging in to shore power, turn on the battery switch, then the inverter switch. This is in essence trying the equivalent of a Windows 3 finger salute! If all else fails, cal...

Potential malicious spam email received today

This morning we got an email from kws@kwslawpc.com, supposedly somebody named Ken W. Smith. It claimed to be a forward of a message from bfadmin-2@bornfreervclub.org. The plain text was something that looked legitimate, but the data was old, old, old. There was a zipped attachment. It was password p...

I can’t help with your sidewall problem, but here is an iPhone/iPad app I use to resize photos: Image Size by vsmedia.de https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/image-size/id670766542?mt=8 Pretty easy to use, and you should be able to then use your iPhone to access this site and upload any resized photos st...

Re: Can I run my AC on 110 volt 15 amp at a campground?

Dallas’s idea would probably depend on how fast the transfer switch goes back to shore power. It would probably have to be instantaneous or else the air conditioner would stop and need the startup surge again. To make things worse, if the air conditioner stops suddenly, normally there is a time lag ...

Re: Can I run my AC on 110 volt 15 amp at a campground?

At home I run our air conditioner on a 20 amp circuit. If you do try to run on a 15 amp circuit (we may have done this at a campground, but can’t remember for sure), get a good 30 to 20 amp adapter and put it on the end of your shore line. Do not use a 20 amp extension cord. If you must use a 20 amp...

Re: Engine operating temperature.

Funny how stuff like that happens. As for rags in unusual spots, one time my oil company had trouble filling my tank. The telltale whistle came on almost immediately. They sent out a tech who applied vacuum to the fill pipe. Out popped a rag that must have been there for several years, as we had ret...

Re: Food & Canada Border Crossing

We’ve gone into Canada multiple time with frozen meals we prepared. I cannot remember having a problem, but you never know. The last time we were in Canada was about 5 years ago now. The situation may have changed, especially with the current political turmoil between the US and Canada.

That’s his 2000 Sportsmobile he referenced in an earlier post. He has the same problem with it. In that post he referenced both his Sportsmobile and his SMB interchangeably.

Re: Refrigerator on propane or using an inverter to provide

Holy crap. Now we have a Xantrex inverter in the picture as well as an Outback inverter/charger. Then it also appears we have an Onan generator and, if I remember correctly, a Honda generator someplace. If you REALLY want help, you have to give us a complete electrical picture here. This sounds like...

Re: Refrigerator on propane or using an inverter to provide

Joel, I stand corrected. If the Outback detects proper AC input from shore line or the generator, it uses that to send AC to the AC outlets. Unfortunately, our Outback was not installed correctly at the factory. The ground wire was not tightened down properly and shorted out the unit. It was, indeed...
