Re: Help deciding on 22ft Born Free - from Chinook Concourse

It sounds like your wife does well in a regular Motorhome except for the parking issues, but, if not, Born Free makes a line of "mobility" vehicles which can be tailored to specific needs. A used one of these would be hard to find, I imagine..

Re: So, what do you HATE about your Born Free?

We really liked having the bathroom sink drain into the black tank, and that was done by design. The black tank was larger to accommodate this. Having a bit more water, and even soap added to the black tank, to my mind, makes for better flushing out when dumping. It was a function of the locations o...

Re: Towing a 2006 Subaru Outback

Our Outback was a 2009. I don't know the specifics on the base plate, the RV Hitch service center we used selected the appropriate one for the Subaru and the Stowmaster. The Stowmaster is mounted on the front of the tow vehicle. With our new setup and vehicles, we have found we prefer the RV mounted...

Re: Towing a 2006 Subaru Outback

We towed a Subaru Outback with manual transmission for several years, and it was a great tow car. We had a stow master tow bar which wasn't the easiest to detach, and a universal tow brake which was great. Unfortunately that tow brake is not available anymore. We now tow a Honda CRV, which starting ...

Re: Alaska Caravan Question

Bob and Dallas, thanks for your comments. I was interested in feedback from folks who have experience in that region, and whether you found more consistency up there. We will try to manage our food when we anticipate crossing borders. Thanks for letting us know about the availability of stores. We a...

Alaska Caravan Question

Could anyone give guidance regarding border crossings on the Alaska Caravan, and what we can expect from the U.S. folks in regards to restrictions on food? We travel several times a year to Whistler, BC and back for skiing, and have had various experiences. The Canadian folks just ask about money an...

Re: Looking at purchasing a Born Free...Need some advice

We moved up to a Born Free from a Pleasureway, a well made van camper. We wanted a bit more space, but, still wanted a compact, and maneuverable coach. We wanted a coach that would let us easily explore out of the way places, and camp in National and State Parks. We are now on our second Born Free. ...

Re: add on room?

We have had good luck with free standing screen houses. They go up easily over the picnic table for shelter from rain, sun, and mosquitos, and can be left in place when we drive the buggy on an adventure. We had a great one from Target for years till we left it in the yard one winter and a big snow ...

Re: How many nights did you spend in your Born Free in 2014

8 or so trips, most with a toad. Total of 104 nights. That is in two coaches, as we went to Iowa three times, once to order the new one, once to pick it up and trade the old, and once in the fall on our way south. The farthest away we got from our home in WA state this year was Tampa, FL. And the ne...

Re: RSB model-questions from a newbie

We too have a new 27RSB, AKA Splendor. When we were shopping, we deliberated long and hard over the sleeping configurations. Our old 24RB had an incline bed and jacknife sofa. The jacknife (older style) was just OK, the incline bed comfortable but narrow. We tested the newer sofa beds and trundle be...

Re: Born Free being sold!

Knowing the Dodgen family and the history of Born Free, I would think that the family deliberated long and hard about this decision. They have always been invested in looking after the brand and their responsibilities to their employees. They have met challenges in the economy over these last years,...

Re: 2015 Born Free Factory Rally

This rally is put on by the folks at the Born Free Company, as opposed to the Leapin Lions. Give the factory a call. They can clarify the dates, and let you know about hookups and how they allocate the hookups. Now that the holidays are over, they will probably be planning for the summer, and should...

Re: How do you deal with moisture buildup in BF while campin

We too had lots of issues with moisture in our prior coach, when camping in cooler weather. It was a significant problem the year we spent three weeks in snowy weather at Whistler, BC during the 2010 Olympics. Breathing and cooking in the coach, while alao using heat to stay warm makes for lots of m...

Re: How common are Wild Turkeys?

South Llano River State park, in Texas, is the winter roosting place for hundreds of wild Turkeys . It is off I-10 near Junction, Tx. They roost near the campground in trees, and can be seen and heard. Nature trails have blinds from which to view them. Some of the park is off limits to folks to prot...
