Re: Very sick 1999 24RB
New plug on #4. Got misfire error on #4 (and sometimes #8) almost right away. Also sometimes getting a "system too lean bank 1" error. I have a Bluetooth scanner so I can monitor the engine performance from my phone.

Very sick 1999 24RB
Chasing misfire errors, I finally had all the coils changed to new Motorcraft. Still cyl. 4 misfire. Mechanic pulled plug and it was all oily and not grey at all. He checked cylinder pressure and got 70 psi. He says it HAS to be addressed. We LIVE in this, and need dependabilty. Cost options? sell f...

Front Brakes
Hello! We have a 1999 Born Free with about 106,000 miles. We've had it for 5 years, bought it with 45000 miles on it. Right now I'm having a shop put 4 Bilstein shocks on it. It has the (to my knowledge) original brake pads, and I asked the shop to replace the front pads as a precautionary measure. ...

Re: Gray tank leak
Karl: Thanks for the reply. I had read your earlier writeup and started to remove the tank. I figured out how to post a photo. Here it is https://www.snapfish.com/photo-gift/share?via=link&token=_aOES0JUy9W1F0zSgypIEg/AUS/27947361097070/SNAPFISH In case the photo doesn't post: What somebody had ...

Re: Gray tank leak
I've tried numerous photo-sharing websites that I've used in the past. I'm getting tired of the B.S.
If you need a picture, PM me.
Thanks,

Gray tank leak
https://pix.sfly.com/FgPS1r This is the top of my gray tank that leaks. The leak occurs both during showering and using the kitchen sink. I started to take down the gray tank but stopped. The local RV place charging $100/hour changed my mind. Putting up a photo is a challenge, but there's a fibergl...

Insured Value Full Timers with 1999 24 ft. RB
3 years ago I purchased our rig for $20,000. Have since added new stereo w/rear camera, solar panel and tire pressure monitoring system. We just started (August) going full time. It's occurred to me that if we total our rig, besides being homeless, we'll need to spend a lot more to replace what we h...

New ball joints @ 86K?
After spending $1100 plus for 6 new tires, I asked for a front end alignment the following day. Learned (after 90 minutes) that I needed new ball joints (both left & right) for $1150. It's a 1999 24ft.rb that we love. The Ford spec. is 0.31 and my vehicle measured .046 (left) and .025 (right). W...

Re: Class A recommendations
Thanks, everyone, for your responses. At Quartzsite we were driving in La Posa North campground and saw a 2007 Alfa for sale. Asking price was $55K. Nice oak cabinetry and good layout; 31,000 miles. We were very, very tempted, but realized our life is too complicated right now to bite off another co...

Class A recommendations
We've enjoyed 3 years with our 1999 24 ft. Born Free. We're seriously considering full-time and feel a smaller class A makes sense. What brands have similar build quality to a Born Free. We're now in Quartzsite, and some of what we've seen is frighteningly shoddy construction. Thanks in advance!

Re: Charging digital electronics easily
No; the way it's set up I can't get full power on shore power. I could put in a relay etc., but for now I'm keeping it simple.

Charging digital electronics easily
I'm passing on what has proven, to me at least, to be a good idea for minimizing the clutter from all the chargers for digital electronics in our BF. We boondock extensively, and the counter by the TV with the DC inverter was getting very crowded with all the specialized chargers. We were forgetting...

Storage in HOT, sunny locations
We're leaving the west coast in late March and have to decide on how/where to store our 24 ft. Born Free. We had left it in Phoenix over the winter, and I had put reflector material over all the windows, and it did fine. Now we're leaving it over the hottest part of the summer......somewhere. I don'...
