Black tank drain probem
Hi, there. We are on our way to the rally in DC and have a problem with our black tank that we have not encountered in 11 years. The valve to the black tank on our 2015 apparently is not closing. It empties when the sewer hose is engaged even when the valve is closed and leaks into the outlet when t...

Re: Do you have a pet name for your Born Free?
We agree - it is usually our secret name for what is otherwise referred to as our small motorhome in non rv company.

Re: Do you have a pet name for your Born Free?
Our 2015 is Miss Kitty because she is a very pretty painted lady.

Re: Facebook Page
Wow, seeing the sign in Humboldt at the factory makes me realize how much of a family feeling owning a Born Free and knowing the folks who produce the Born Free products evokes. We were just there at the end of July. Love, blessings and thank you to the Dodgen family.

Re: Trickle charge chassis battery?
Bill, of course the inverter/converter works both off the house batteries and the generator. It just runs down the house batteries rather quickly. When using shore power, it only functions properly with 30 amp service. We were told when we picked up our new coaches in 2014 at homecoming to leave the...

Re: Trickle charge chassis battery?
Mike, our 2015 has a 2000 watt inverter/converter and house battery charger unit under the coach. As currentlu configured, in order to have the wall plugs active, the inverter must be turned on and the inverter does not function well on less than a 30 amp power source. This advise is from Leon Bontr...

Re: Trickle charge chassis battery?
Ignore my last question, our coach requires 30 amps for the inverter to function.

Re: Trickle charge chassis battery?
Thanks, Bill, now I inderstand how this works. Does it require a 30 amp box or will household current be sufficient?

Re: Trickle charge chassis battery?
Great post, David and Susan. We have never used a trickle charger. If the answer to their question is yes, how long is it safe to leave the coach in storage without a chassis battery charger? Does it matter if you drive it once a month?
Thanks!
Judy
Thanks!

You gotta love Alaska! Our Alaska kids went back to Fairbanks last week after a visit. Weather is now topping out in the 40s with rain and that is the good news! They love it.

Re: ? What Did You Do To Your Born Free Today?
The newer coaches have tile in the kitchen area. You might ask Born Free for advice on adding smart tiles to older coaches. It does look really nice and seems to be easy to clean.

Re: How many of you wish your Born Free had a built in Step?
Steve, be careful what you wish for! The 550 diesel chassis has a kwikee step similar to your picutre. Ours failed in the extended position after 6 months. Now we carry bungee cords and know how to disengage the step to retract it manually. According to Camping World, they are a repair leader in the...

Re: fair market value
We really like our 2015 on the F550! More power, more room because of the wider body and straight taller roof. The cab is also more quiet than our 450 was. We are very happy that we made the choice to invest in a new coach.

Re: fair market value
A few comments based upon the sale of our 2003/2004 RSB in 2014 and its subsequent resales in the last year. Our unit had 125,000 miles so our subsequent sale price was comparable to units with fewer miles that were up to 5 years older. Mileage seems to be the most important factor in what the buyer...
