Re: Born Free sighting on TV news today
Haven't seen the Cincinnati crime investigation Born Free on CBS but we here in South Florida frequently get to see the Miami-Dade county sheriff's unit on local TV.

Re: Request for guidance on repairs
The company that makes the sewer hose carrier is D & W Inc. Here is a url to get you to the catalog page for the parts you need. https://www.dwincorp.com/product-category/sanitubes-sewer-hose-carriers/ Hope that helps. By the way I find that the Hatch door is a weak link so I ordered an extra to...

Re: Seeking Guidance: BFT wheel under coach
The casters originally supplied with Born Free coaches are made of a Phenolic or "plastic" material. I have had two BF coaches and have destroyed those casters on both of them. I then replaced them with steel or iron ball bearing casters with a polyurethane tread. The polyurethane tread ha...

I have the same switch in a slightly different location. Its purpose is to allow you to play your radio from power supplied by the house batteries and not by the starter battery for the truck.

Re: Tire valve stem failures
I use the Tire Minder TPMS. Batteries are replaceable and the company gives you a free battery exchange for 5 years. Also, if you buy the Borg tire stems be sure to purchase an extra set of rubber grommets for the stems. When you buy new tires it is a good idea to also change those seals. They are r...

Re: What does it mean, when I hear elec arcing at pedestal?
Here is a link to Mike Sokol's website where he discusses everything about electrical safety. There is a 12 part series on this site about electrical safety that is excellent. He also has a weekly column on rvtravel.com. I highly recommend it. http://noshockzone.org/category/rv-safety/ . You can not...

Re: Refrigerator on propane or using an inverter to provide
Joe, I had problems with my batteries and the charging system when I took delivery of my coach. I found the Firefly folks to be a lot more helpful than the techs at Outback. At that time I spoke with Leon Bontrager, the president of Firefly. The phone number is 574-825-4600. I would suggest using th...

Re: Refrigerator on propane or using an inverter to provide
This entire thread is very confusing and makes no sense to me. I have to agree with Joe as our 2015 coach has the same Outback power system that he has. I was told that the 2014 models used the same system. The only thing that I would question is Joe's comment that the 110 receptacles in the coach a...

Re: Awning problem
BIll: I agree with your comments on the automatic appliances somewhat. I think you have to take each item and consider it independently. For example I would prefer not having automatic shades as they are problematic to adjust them if they go out of sync but it is great to just push one button and se...

Re: Recommended tire pressure
I believe the correct model name of admoffat's coach on a F550 chassis is "Royal Splendor" and the tire size is 19.5". Born Free coaches on the E series Ford chassis have 16" tires. The best advice in this thread is to have the coach weighed. It is best to have each wheel weighed...

2014 Born Free Spirit for $40,000
Craig's list Miami has a 2014 Born Free spirit with 13,000 miles on it for $40,000. https://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/rvs/d/2014-born-free-spirit-rv/6613607271.html Whats the catch? It has a rebuilt title. But it sure does look good. Edited by Website Administrator bfadmin-2 to correct inoperative cr...

Re: So what RVs to look at, now that Born Free is gone?
[Do I read this correctly—-370 lbs and the review focuses on bumping your head and the short shower hose? A fluff piece. If I recall correctly my BF has more than 2,000 lbs CCC.][/i] I would be overjoyed if my 2015 Splendor(RSB) had 2000# of CCC. It doesn't. However even with that much CCC you must ...

Re: So what RVs to look at, now that Born Free is gone?
Nick: I am interested in your thinking not being critical. Why do you specify factory direct coaches only. What is your rationale. Aren't there some coaches that are not factory direct like Leisure Travel that you would consider quality products? Not withstanding that Leisure Travel coaches are not ...

Re: So what RVs to look at, now that Born Free is gone?
I was told a few years ago by some folks at the Born Free factory that Ford would be discontinuing the E series cutaway chassis in 2020. The E series was first introduced in 1961. According to wikipedia we are now in the 4th generation which was introduced in 1992. The Triton V-10 was introduced in ...

Re: Insurance
This is a followup to my previous post on finding a new policy. In my search the best price and best coverage was from National General, $1149 (Total loss replacement of the original price) but the worst reviews of any of the companies I contacted. The most interesting quotes were from Progressive I...
