Re: New Owner questions ... Glad to be here!

Glad to hear that you successfully got the refrigerator and furnace to work. I'll share a few lessons learned with our 2005 26 RSB. When bringing the coach out of storage, always make sure both valves are turned on at the propane tank; then before attempting to light the frig, furnace or water heate...

Re: New Member

Charlie, The bed and couch may vary in size, from year to year, but a BF brochure, that I have, states the bed is 50 x 76 and the couch is 46 x 76. Camping World offers an assortment of unique size bed sheets. As to preparation for your trip, if the coach does not have a spare tire, I suggest that y...

Re: Update on window specialties day/night shade retstring

Russ, I realize you are shipping your shades to the manufacturer. I found this full description for re-stringing the shade. I fixed one of our shades and used 50 lb. test monofilament fishing line. I did not replace the eyelets. The shade works great and slides a lot easier. http://www.discoveryowne...

Re: Do you have a pet name for your Born Free?

Our Florida license plate number includes the letters PAW. So we named the coach "LionPaw". The lion keeps its eyes looking forward on the overhead cone and defends the coach on the back panel.

Re: Engine scan computer

We have an EDGE Insight CTS engine monitor. I added an exhaust probe so we can monitor the exhaust gas temperature (EGT). Since we have a diesel engine, watching the engine vitals is important, particularly EGT, engine oil and coolant temperatures. I can monitor up to 8 items at once, but can select...

Re: Shenandoah NP

We visited the park in early July with our 27 RSB. We drove the entire park from south to north and did not have any problems. We stayed at the Loft Mountain campground with a site on the outer loop overlooking the mountains. Beautiful park!

Re: 110/LP water heater? 2005 RSB

A few basic things to check: 1. Make sure both valves are turned on the LP tank 2. House battery switch is on, water heater ignitor is 12V 3. Push the reset button on the water heater 4. Water in the heater 5. When you turn on the LP switch at the vanity, it usually takes 30-60 seconds for the water...

Re: Tire Balancing Beads

I finally had the balancing beads installed in our tires about a month ago. The lead weights were left on the rim and beads placed in the tire. Noticeable difference right away in the ride. My test for better tire balance is the 7" GPS we suction cup to the front window. The GPS no longer has a...

Re: Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer

The stabilizer was installed today. The coach definitely drives better. The steering wheel stays centered and you do not have the drifting from side to side. No fatigue driving the coach. I had the stabilizer installed at an alignment shop. We're now ready for our summer trip to the Northeast in Jul...

Re: Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer

Mary, Thanks for the attempt to take the photos. I have been communicating with Safe-T-Plus about the installation. The stabilizer will be installed later this week. I'll post some photos once it is on the coach. I have viewed the online installation videos, but all of the videos are for Class A mot...

Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer

I purchased a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer for our coach. If anyone has pictures of the installation on your coach, I would appreciate a couple pictures posted to this thread. I am curious to see how the frame bracket is mounted. We have a 26 RSB on an E-450 chassis.

Thank you.

Re: Do Air Shocks Lose Air?

The air shocks (bags) do lose air over time. We have the same year of coach. I replaced the valve inserts as the rubber o-rings dry out over time and do not hold air. I also put on new stainless steel caps with a rubber seal inside the cap. The rate of air lose slowed, but it still occurs. The parts...

Re: E450 Rear Brake Failure

For those who wish to do some prevent maintenance, Ford has a rear caliper kit for 2000-2005 E-450's. The calipers can be overhauled rather than replaced. The part number is 4C3Z-2120-A. The kit contains two dust boots, two caliper seals and instruction sheet.
