Solar Panel

I have a solar panel on the roof of my BF. When cleaning the roof I haven’t found a way to clean the roof under the solar panel. Tried several ideas but none worked well. Suggestions?

Re: RV Newbie got really lucky. Plenty of questions.

You need a carbon monoxide detector and a smoke detector. I think you can purchase them in one unit. You should have a factory installed propane detector. Mine is installed in the doorway at floor level. Propane is heavier than air so a leak will sink to the floor. If you need to replace it it is an...

Re: RV Newbie got really lucky. Plenty of questions.

Seat belts were standard equipment for the jackknife couch. They were connected to a cross rod under the couch. They can be pushed under the couch and may be hanging from this rod. Since no one rode on my couch I pushed them under the seat, but eventually took them out. I think I can find them and w...

Yes install the styrofoam,or better yet, install foam and between the foam and the window place a cut to fit reflector like you buy for an automobile windshield. That window lets in a lot of heat in the summer. If you have a good mechanic ask if he will work on the Ford mechanical side of you BF. Ta...

Re: RV Newbie got really lucky. Plenty of questions.

You can replace the tv antenna yourself. It isn’t difficult. There are several utube videos on repair or replacement. There are businesses that build mattress’. I had mine replaced a couple or years ago here in Mobile. That price is way out of line. I know I paid less than $400. Here is an online st...

Is this the awning piece you are looking for? If so, it installs with pop rivets and you will need a pop rivet gun to install. I just installed one on my awning.

I should add that I ordered and installed the three stage converter myself. Not difficult at all. And I also should add that the model I installed then (some years ago) may no longer be manufactured. Plus I imagine most new RV’s have inverters/converters.

Re: RV Newbie got really lucky. Plenty of questions.

I was hopeful that Bill Hemme would respond. I’ve moved past the 3 stage converter and now have an inverter/converter. The converter charges your house batteries. When you are hooked to shore power or operating your generator 120 volt power enters your converter and is “converted to 12 volts and pas...

If you have the original converter you may want to change it out to a 3 stage model. Bill Hemme can tell you the details. Bill?

Re: Recommendation on 2005 Born Free Built for Two

If you are buying it from an individual I would give some thought as to whether or not I thought the seller was being honest with me. It is not foolproof to do so but don’t ignore your instinct. If from a dealer I would request the name of the previous owner and talk to him/her. If the dealer gives ...

Wax the window frames

Even though my 2001 model is stored inside aging shows. Window frames and seals became dull and faded. I cleaned the seals with acetone and waxed both frames and seals.
