2009 Quartzsite Rally, January 16-19

Post by bechlumber »

Rally Name: 2009 Quartzsite Rally -8th Annual
Dates: January 16-19, 2009
Rally Location: Quartzsite, Arizona
Rally Hosts: Jeff & Linda Jahraus

It was another fun Quartzsite Rally, sunny weather, wonderful people and great food. There were 20 coaches and 33 people. For a few days before the rally started the hosts were not sure when they would get to Quartzsite. Because of a broken tie rod on the Born Free, Jeff & Linda did not arrive until Thursday night at 11:15pm. and found 11 other Born Frees already at the campsite. Early arrivals on Wednesday helped the arrivals on Thursday find the campsite. Thanks to everyone for helping.

Friday evening started with appetizers supplied by all. Next everyone enjoyed a pot of Add2it Chili (everyone brings chili to put in the pot). Salad & cornbread were the sides. While eating a campfire was enjoyed by all. Some went to bed early and others enjoyed the stars and talked.

A breakfast of eggs, sausage, croissants, orange juice, and champagne on Saturday. A hearty meal for those going into Quartzsite to brave the crowds and find those items they really needed. For Saturday night's meal a pork leg was smoked by Born Free member Tom Dorvart. Coleslaw and ranch beans added to the meal. Born Free members Ron Vitt and Ellen Brantley supplied some bottles of Syrah wine to sample from their vineyard in Sonoma called Sonoma Solstice. It was a fine dining experience. After dinner there was much talk about the purchases of the day while sitting around the campfire. Linda got out the honeygram crackers, Hershey bars and marshmallows and everyone make s'mores.

Sunday saw more shopping and relaxing. Sunday night we again had appetizers supplied by all and left overs from the two previous nights. No one left hungry.

Monday morning some stayed stayed longer in Quartzsite, some went home and others continued on traveling.

Quartzsite is always a fun, relaxing and laidback experience. Oh, it is also unbelievable to see thousands and thousands of motorhomes in one area. Join us next year and experience it for yourself.
