Newport Beach Rally
April 23-26, 2012

This rally was at Newport Dunes Waterfront RV Resort and Marina adjoining the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve.

Everyone arrived by early afternoon on Monday, April 23rd. We exchanged hugs and news as we caught up with old friends and met some for the first time. Meanwhile, the rest of us carpooled over to the Center and cheered the canoeists as they paddled in to shore. We enjoyed a catered barbecue dinner under the trees and a few feet from the water.

During the day, most us who towed cars headed off to explore all the places in Newport Beach that we knew about or read about in the written suggestions compiled by the rally hosts. The rest of us went on a tour led by the rally hosts. We made a stop on Balboa Island to see the shops, then crossed the bay on the historic three-car Balboa Ferry. We then went down to “The Wedgeâ€
