replace florescent lights with LED's?

Post by rick1949 »

I need info on replacing florescent lights with LED's on a 98 Born Free President. Any help out there? ricksutherland79@yahoo.com. Is the electrical feed to the light 12 volt or 110? Does the ballast need alteration? Does it have a starter? Any other alterations necessary?

Good topic. Thanks.
I am also interested in this. I think my fluorescent lights are 12 VDC.
I have converted all of my other lights to LED.
So would like to do the same with my fluorescent. Thanks.

I am currently planning to upgrade my florescents. I have not done it yet.. but here are a few links to some youtube videos that I might use as a guide. Overall it looks pretty simple.

Will those strips in the video work with the 12 volt system?

I have kept my fixtures on my 87 and removed ballasts and installed LED adhesive strips. It gives it a factory look, and a nice warm light with less power consumption. Yes, these are all 12v fixtures. Rolls of LED strips can be found online, several different flavors available.
