On June 1st 2019, right after our National Rally in Iowa, we gather just over the border in New Brunswick for a 39 day caravan you will never forget, especially Newfoundland.

When: June 1 - July 9, 2019 (39 days)
Registration Deadline: February 15, 2019 (NEW)
(full refund if cancelled 60 days prior to departure)
To register please contact David Baxley direct at:
      ·  866-669-5865 (phone), or
      · (email)

Sue and George Boley have been to Newfoundland four times. They describe their trips as follows:

“Each trip is as exciting as the last. They say you can never return home, but that is exactly what we did. Home to a time when nobody locked their doors, when folks stopped to help if you were in trouble. Home to a place where you hug perfect strangers as if they were aunts and uncles and you can't explain why. Yes, the real beauty of Newfoundland is in it’s people, folks whose motto is ‘we have never met a stranger’. Go, you will come back with a renewed appreciation of your fellow man”.

We take this club-only trip with our guides, Adventure Treks of Texas, a small caravan company that has been around since 2001. In 2011 they hosted several of our members on a successful caravan to Alaska. We need at least 11 coaches to make this 39 day trip possible, if we want to go with just our group.

The caravan takes in 3000 road miles, boards 4 ferries, visits 4 Canadian provinces and 2 islands owned by France. There are bus tours, charter boats, plays, performances, meals and of course campgrounds, all included for a price of $7,195 per couple (coach under 30', a towed vehicle will have additional ferry charges) or $184 per day, less for singles. Even though this trip is 18 months away, this price is being held for us. A refundable* deposit of just $200 per person, to Adventure Treks, 1921 Lilac Lane, Grapevine, Texas 76051 will assure your place on this adventure.

* full refund if notification received 60 days before departure.

The Canadian exchange rate makes the trip even more appealing. At the time of this writing you get $1.25 Canadian for every American dollar.

Attached is a complete itinerary of our trip, when you sign up you will also receive a full brochure that will provide further information. You can also log onto Important questions can be forwarded to David Baxley at Please copy Joel Lefkowitz at

NOTE: The following additional information about this caravan was provided by Dave Moffat and added to this post by Website Administrator (bfadmin-2) on Sept 12, 2018:

I contacted David Baxley at Adventure Treks a couple of weeks ago. At that time, there were 6 Born Free coaches signed up for this caravan. The minimum for this caravan is 11. If there are not enough guests to conduct the tour, he will offer us the chance to move to one of his regular tours (probably the one departing 6/21).

Ann and I visited Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI a few years ago. It’s a great place to visit. Here are some of the things we really enjoyed:
     · There are very few places in the world where you can see a 30’ tidal swing. One of the others is the Turnagain Arm near Anchorage. You can’t safely walk on the mud flats in the Turnagain Arm at low tide; you        can in the Bay of Fundy. This allows you to experience the tides in a very different way. It’s pretty amazing. A few miles away near Pictou, the tides are only 3’. You can’t get this comparison anywhere else.
     · If you like lobster, New Brunswick is the place for you. You may think Maine when you think of lobster, think again; its bigger in New Brunswick. Lobster’s more affordable and you can eat it every day if you wish.
     · The Fortress of Louisbourg is fantastic. You can easily spend a day there.
     · Driving the Cabot Trail around Cape Breton Island is unique. The road signs are first in English. Then French around Chéticamp. Then Gaelic on the east side of the island. There are some signs where it’s hard to        distinguish the English from the Gaelic.

There’s much more on this trip that we haven’t done, so we’re really looking forward to it. Take another look and join us.

Adventure Treks seems to have changed their website. Here’s the current one if you’d like more information:
