Memories will be made while enjoying great entertainment, tasty catered meals, an unforgettable attraction-rich guided bus tour, wonderful afternoon tea, outstanding technical seminar, the always friendly wine & cheese social, cozy campfire, prizes, the biennial club business meeting and much more. You will not be disappointed!
Headquarters for this adventure is the legendary Hart Ranch RV Camping Resort nestled in the scenic Black Hills near Rapid City, South Dakota. The ranch was founded by Civil War fighter, pioneer and frontiersman John Harrison Hart who settled it in the 1880’s. He was straight out of the pages of Old West history when he carved out his ranching empire while Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane roamed the streets of Lead and Deadwood. This resort has many amenities and can be found at
https://www.hrresort.org/ The beautiful Black Hills get their name from the amount of densely packed evergreen trees seen when approaching the area from a distance. The hills appear black compared to the lighter color of the prairie that surrounds it. The Lakota Indians called them Paha Sapa - or Hills that are Black. This area offers one of the largest concentrations of national parks and monuments in the midwest.
Highly recommended is the optional all-day
Mount Rushmore Sightseeing Guided Bus Tour (pickup and return at the campground). This narrated tour includes a
cowboy pancake breakfast at Fort Hays (the Dances with Wolves Film Set), a Chuckwagon Supper and a Cowboy Music Show. It also includes many of the local historical attractions such as
Mount Rushmore,
Custer State Park,
State Game Lodge (lunch on your own here),
Sylvan Lake and
Crazy Horse Memorial. Have your camera ready and eyes on the lookout for wildlife like buffalo, antelope, elk and bighorn sheep. Also there will be more great picture taking opportunities passing through tunnels and overlooks as we wind along scenic highways through the majestic Black Hills National Forest. Or if you prefer, you may use this time to explore this historic area on your own (information provided). A detailed Rally Agenda is in the
III - Rally Agenda post. The Registration Form is in the
IV - Registration and Contact Information post.
We are all going to have a great time together at this rally experiencing the grandeur and majestic beauty of the Black Hills - you do not want to miss it!
