Near the source of the Rio Grande that flows to the Gulf of Mexico, in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado, lies a jewel in the old silver mining town of Creede. At almost 9,000 feet above sea level, the air is clean and panoramas spectacular.

Accessed by good, paved US Route 149, Mountain Views resort is approximately 20 miles (30 km) northwest of South Fork, Colorado (on US Route 160.) This is a high quality resort, and has an ownership option. This was never brought up during our visit, so there is no hard sales tactics. The town of Creede is within a mile, and has antique, galleries, and boutique shopping, a popular theatrical venue, and quaint restaurants. The resort consistently earns Woodall's 5W5W ratings (the highest in facilities and recreation).

We stayed at this resort in July 2006 for a rally of our local FMCA chapter, the Pikes Peak Rollers. Our site was easy to access, and we parked our car hauler trailer in a storage area. There is a nice lodge building that can be used for groups, and I'd say about 50 people comfortably. Another building was used for a Sunday community non-denominational service given by a local pastor. The gift shop has interesting local arts and crafts items, along with the basic necessities.

They have a a good website, which includes information about the region, rates and reservations.
