Wheel covers

Post by troutman1971 »

What are the brand of aluminum wheel covers BF uses? Damn tire place broke off some of the fake lug nuts.

Thanks!

Mark, actually your wheel covers (simulators) are made out of stainless steel not aluminum. They are made by the Dicor Corporation and for your 2004 Born Free should be their model V160F8 Versa Liners. If you go to the Technical Library section on this forum and click on the topic titled Replacement parts for Dicor Versa-Liner Wheel Covers, you can learn all about these wheel simulators including all the various replacement parts. Click on the Dicor website https://dicorproducts.com/product-categ ... imulators/ to see both the front and real dual simulators. If it is a rear simulator that needs to be replaced it should be their P/N V160F8-RWC at a cost of 190.75. If it is a front simulator, their P/N is V160F8-FWC at a cost of $104.00. Also note that the 2" decal that is applied to the center hub is extra at additional $1.10 cost.

It may be wise to call Dicor to make sure of the correct simulator for your Born Free chassis. A word of advice, always remove the simulators yourself before having any wheel removed by a tire shop to prevent this kind of damage. They may always try to use an impact wrench on the 6 fake simulator nuts causing the damage you experienced.

Mark,

I hope you are able to get the tire shop to pay for the damaged wheel simulator.
