Awning replacement

Post by Lwest »

Anyone out there replaced their awning? Where did you buy it? We are having a ton of trouble finding somewhere to get one that fits the Born Free shape?

If your coach uses the “curved arm” at the lower connection, it is an A&E product. I ordered it from Camping World when I had them install an awning on my coach several years ago. It has a part number that I don’t have anymore. Print the picture and take to any dealer of A&E awnings.

I recently damaged the left side of my dometic awning and had to find some replacement parts. i found the customer service people extremely helpful. they told me where to look on my awning to find the ID numbers for both the hardware and material parts of the awning.
i would suggest you get as much information as you can re: your current awning, length, manufacturer, year of your born free and of course any printed material you might still have referencing your awning, and then call them. It would be a good start. their # is 800-544-4881 and their web site address is: customersupportcenter@dometic.com
and good luck

Attached is the curved awning hardware guide sent to me by Dometic just today. According to their email, it shows all of the curved awning hardware that they have manufactured over the years. Check out 017 for Born Free. You’ll have to contact them for other colors.

Thanks to everyone who replied about our awning issue. We have found someone who can and will order and install it (manual deployment type). Does $2,000 for purchase and install sound about right?
