We are thinking about attending the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta next October. I have looked at the official website for this event, but would appreciate any suggestions ( site choices, events, etc) from those who have been there. Also, is anyone else planning to go this year? Thanks!

From Maine to Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta
Last year we drove from Maine to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. We spent five days on the road and stopped a few times to see friends and relatives along the way. Interstate 40 parallels old US Highway 66 from Oklahoma City through New Mexico.
We had our towed car with us and we stayed at the Enchanted Trails Camping Resort on the plateau to the west of Albuquerque. It is also possible to stay on the Balloon Fiesta grounds. I would recommend going with an RV tour company such as Good Sam or Fantasy RV Tours, especially if you don't have a towed car.
We took side trips to Santa Fe, Bandelier National Monument, Albuquerque's Old Town, and Sandia Mountain. There are several interesting museums to visit.
