Ditto on the photos. They would be very helpful for some of us! Thank you both so much for the information. This is soooo useful.

Jotto Desk photos

Post by Linda Giuliani »

I've managed to take a few shots of the Jotto Desk in action, however I couldn't figure out how to get them all attached and posted in the forum. I will be glad to e-mail them directly to anyone who provides me an e-mail address.

Jotto Desk photos

Post by BornFree_n_Now »

Thank you for the photos of your Jotto Desk installation ~~ we had a similar unit in a previous RV, and found the construction and functionality to be well above what we had expected. Unfortunately in our BF, we are looking for something that can be primarily for use by the passenger while being viewable by the driver when using the GPS application ~~ in addition, we are looking for something that has a minimal footprint and does not interfere materially with access to the passenger seat ~~ The express mount seems to be something of the nature we are after, but it looks like it would interfere with access to the passenger seat more than we would like, which is why we would like to see a picture of that installation, if anyone has one ~~ thank you, again, Linda.

I don't have a picture of the RAM Mount installed, but according to the installation instructions found at http://www.ram-mount.com/nodrillsystems ... mvb119.pdf
the base attaches to the right side of the Driver's seat. As such, it should not interfere with access to the Passenger's seat. Additionally, the upright section of the base is sufficiently placed to the rear of the Driver's seat so as not to interfere with access to the that seat either. You might want to contact the folks at RAM Mounts, staff@ram-mount.com or (206) 763-8361, to see if they have any photos of the mount installed and to get answers to any questions you may have.

PS. This company makes many of the OEM mounts for the major manufacturers of portable GPS receivers. I have the Lowrance iWAY 500C and the RAM Mounts shipped with this unit are excellent in all respects.

Larry & Sharon, the Jotto won't do what you would like it to. For us, Greg is only interested in watching the road, not the GPS, so this works fine for us. Plus, we use the computer extensively when stopped (we have a satellite system for internet so he can do his consultng from the road) and the Jotto lets him spread out with paperwork in the cabin. So our needs were very different from yours. Good luck in your search!

Linda ~ Thanks again, and we will keep looking ~~

If we may ask, what satellite internet system and service provider did you select, and are you happy with same?

Greg researched about a year and ended up choosing a Datastorm system built by Motosat out of Salt Lake City. We purchased the system through an independent dealer - Global Solutions, located in Arlington, Tx. Most dealer/installers will travel anywhere in the country to install these units. We already had a Direcway stationary satellite dish at home for the business (we live in the boonies and high speed internet is still not available here). So we were familiar with how that worked, but moving into a mobil mount for the RV was a big jump in money and technology. We attended a Datastorm rally in 2004 to meet the Motosat people and visit with other folks who had the systems. From there we chose our dealer and went forward. We use one Direcway account and move the modem from the house to the coach when we travel.

We are extremely pleased with the sysbem and technology. Without it, Greg wouldn't have the freedom to be on the road and do his consulting. We've never failed to get online. If we've ever had a problem, tech support from Motosat or our dealer were available right away.

And we always have good satellite tv connection. Before, it seems like we never had a campground where our tv antenna would pick up a signal.
