Memo to those attending the Creede, CO National Rally

Post by bfadmin »

The South Central Region of Born Free Leapʼn Lions RV Club, Leroy and Lois Molsbee, South Central Region Vice Presidents and Bill and Mary Lyon, Rally Hosts extend to you a hearty welcome to the 2011 National Rally. We are excited that you will be in Creede, one of our Regionʼs most beautiful mountain areas. Relax, breathe in the mountain air, and enjoy your stay.

Mountain Views RV Resort has a great website at www.mountainviewsrv.com that you might want to visit

Driving directions:
For those of you entering Creede from the east on Hwy 149, the highway passes through the south edge of Creede, then heads west toward Lake City. As you enter Creede you will begin to see a large RV Resort approximately one mile away to your left. This is your destination. As you leave Creede, you will start to see Mountain Views RV Park to the south. Watch for Mountain Views signage.

For those of you entering Creede from the west on Hwy 149, as you begin to enter Creede, Mountain Views RV Park will be to your right (south). Watch for the signage.

As you enter the Resort, personnel from the Resort will check you in and lead you to your site.

Sites:
Sites are reserved for Sunday, June 26, 2011 through Thursday, June 30, 2011. If you plan to arrive prior to Sunday or leave later than Friday, please make reservations with the Resort, telephone 719.658.2710

Sites are being pre-assigned by resort personnel. Those of you requesting special parking due to problems with walking are being assigned sites closest to the Elk Lodge.

The resortʼs sanitation system CANNOT accept holding tank additive with formaldehyde solutions. Please remember to empty your holding tanks before arriving if you use an additive that contains formaldehyde.

The sites are designed to accommodate larger RVʼs. We have found that an extra section of holding tank drain hose is beneficial.

The Resort has very nice showers and laundry facilities.

Clothing:
Remember that we will be in the Rockies. Weather conditions can vary with short notice. You might want to bring rain gear, including umbrellas. A light jacket might feel comfortable during early morning or late evening.

Nighttime temperatures could be in the high 30ʼs to low 40ʼs. Make sure you have an extra blanket.

Coach and Toad fuel:
At last count, only one small fuel station is available in Creede. Consider filling fuel tanks, at least the coach tanks, before arriving in Creede. We should have no problem in Creede filling fuel tanks for our tow vehicles.

Meals:
The Firehouse Restaurant, a local downtown establishment, will be catering hors dʼoeuvres Sunday evening, the breakfasts and dinner on Tuesday. Monday evening, we will have the traditional potluck dinner; so remember to bring the ingredients needed to create your favorite recipes. Although we will have disposable plates, cups, and utensils available, we encourage you to bring your own table service to all meals to eliminate some of the garbage that a group of this size can generate.

Club members will be serving the food. Leroy and Lois Molsbee are coordinating food serving and will need volunteers to assist. Please let Leroy or Lois know if you are willing to assist.

Rally events transportation:
Two 12 passenger vans are being rented. We have almost 100 people to transport to the Mining Museum and 135 to transport to the Theater. Four groups of 25 are touring the museum at various times during the day. We will need volunteers to drive the vans and a few personal tow vehicles to the Mining Museum.  The next evening we will need to add a few volunteers to coach pool to the Theater. Jack Maxcy has volunteered to be the Transportation Director. Please let Jack know if you can help with your vehicles.

Wi-Fi/DSL Internet:
Available. Last year they had some problems with it. Should be operative this year.

TV Coverage:
Cable TV is available in the Lodges.

Cell phone coverage:
Cell phone reception should work OK.

Rally theme:
Historically, Creede was known for the notorious, wild west characters that swarmed into the town during the height of the silver mining era. Therefore, we chose a “western themeâ€
