I fined this of great interest, as it is the first time I have heard of this happening like this. I would immediately contact the maker of the battery and the retailer that sold the battery for their imput.

Mickey; have you found out anything further about your battery problem? If not, perhaps it being displayed on the "Discussion" forum will generate some responces.

Batteries emit hydrogen and any spark or open flame invites same. Battery compartments with lead acid batteries must be well ventilated. Don't mean to insult anybody's intelligence but as a teen ager I saw a battery explode and it left a 70 year impression. To push this a little further, I would opine something on outside of battery was involved.

I, fortunately, have never had this happen, but I witnessed a battery explosion when a shade tree mechanic disconnected a booster cable in the wrong sequence.
