Did you have to buy the tires or is that just the price you found? Is that for a full set of 6? If you're willing to take the time, and go through the paperwork, often the VAT can be refunded (25% in Norway!).

We bought them. VAT is returned on new, unused items. Hopefully these tires will have a few thousand miles on them by the time we leave.

Michelin tires

We bought a used 2008 Built for Two one and a half years ago with less than 8,000 mi. on it. Since then we have kept it stored inside except for short trips. They now have under 12,000 miles on them.

We found on looking closely that the outer sides of the front tires are starting to show small cracks. Does this seem to be a problem with Michelin tires?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'll try that. I wonder how many others have had trouble with their Michelin's. Does Born Free still use them on the newer motorhomes?

Actually the question is not whether Born Free equips there motorhomes with Michelin tires but instead what tires come as standard equipment on the Ford manufactured and supplied E350 and E450 stripped chassis.

Ford changed from Firestone Steeltex tires as standard equipment around year 2005 to Michelin LTX tires since that time. The sidewall cracking problem seems to be a frequent aging problem with the Michelin tire.
