Below is not a necessarily a accurate statement - I believe there is some discussion on here concerning locking mechanism failure - up to the owner if they want a secondary safety measure in place.
If it's in the locked position, it will not pull away from the coach, unless it gets unlocked/unpinned at some point, or was never in the full upright and locked/pinned position in the first place. In which case it's off to the races when the wind speed catches the rolled-up awning, and becomes an independently functioning airfoil at speed.
