Tire pressure

Post by CuJo's Pride »

We have been searching the forum for tire pressures. I know this topic has been discussed but have had no luck finding the info needed. Could someone help me with the recommended tire pressures for the 26' RB BF? We are hitting the road on Wednesday. :)

Thanks much..

The info is easy to find on our this website. Just look in the Technical Library section on this forum for the post titled TIRE INFLATION PRESSURES FOR 24' & 26' BORN FREE COACHES.

However, the post won't tell you what inflation pressure to use on the tires on your particular coach. You need to weigh each of the four corners of your coach in down the road running condition to determine from the inflation graph how much pressure to put into each of your tires.

I run 60-65 in the front and 70-75 in the rears and call it good. Never had an issue. Also run 50-55 in the airbags.

My wife and I have a 2007 24RB and have run 65lbs in the front and 70lbs in the rear duals since we took delivery 7 years ago. The tires are now 7 years old and showing little or no wear. I had them inspected at a tire shop this year as 7 years is a bit long for a set of tires but the shop could find no defects and no reason not to run them another year. The vehicle is stored inside and I am sure that has helped in the longevity of the tires. Bill Hemme suggests weighing all four corners, but that is simply not feasible in our neck of the woods so we settled on the basic truck scale, doing front and rear with the coach loaded for the road. Seven years later, the 65/70 tire pressure seems to be working out fine.

Sam,

The tire pressures listed on the door jam may or may not be anywhere close to what would really be required for a finished motorcoach. When the Ford E350 or E450 uncompleted chassis is delivered to a customer, Ford does no know what is actually going to be built on the chassis and therefore does not know the final weight.

My Born Free manual recommends 60 psi in front and 65 psi in rear tires. I prefer to use 65/75.

Thanks so much everybody for letting us know your tire pressures. We have figured out a temp tire pressure that should be ok until we can get it weighed. It will be interesting to see how close or far we are.

BTW we are at a campground and this is the first time someone came up to us and asked about our rig. He kept saying you have "Porn Free" and I kept telling him it was a Born Free, this went of for a few minutes, and I have to say I was gettng a bit irritated, until I discovered Curt had made the B into a P. What a joker he is !!!!

Got our BF weighed in Ky, now we just need to sit down with the numbers and figure out what our pressures should be at. Kind of interested to know who close (or far) away we are on the tire pressures now..
