Rover is safely home

Post by David and Susan Bratt »

And her batteries are still working!! Rover sat in storage in Amsterdam for 21months. We shipped her home from Antwerp April 15 and she arrived in Baltimore on April 30. I picked her up from the port on May 5 (had to wait 2 hours for an escort and spent all of 15 minutes in the port) reattached her license plates and drove off. Today we had Camping World check her out and hook up our AGM batteries and they are still alive and functioning. We were thrilled and astonished. Not a scratch on her and it did not appear to me that anything had been inspected inside.
Shipping cost $4300. Another $300 for marine insurance and $325 customs and port fees and $50 to the escort service. Just a little more than shipping to Europe cost in 2008.

We plan to be at the Born Free factory rally in June and we will be making a presentation about our travels. Sue
