What brand charger/converter do I have ??

Post by Ironhorse »

Hello all,

I have a Xantrex xm1000 inverter in our 2013 front lounge but can’t figure out what type converter/charger I have or where it’s located. Can somebody help me out?

Thanks

There is a photo of the charger/converter in your owner's manual. If you don't have a copy, you can download a copy at the section on this forum titled 2013 Born Free Owner's Manual - 20' thru 28'.

If you open the cover lid for the unit it should reveal the brand and model.

Thank you very much. I’ll pop the cover off and check tonight.

Also downloaded the owners manual for future reference.

Removed cover and there was something next to the fuse box that appears to be the converter/charger based on some of the wiring and labels on the main circuit board. No brand name info visible. Printed along the top of the charger circuit board is a backwardsRU 294V-0. Does anyone know what brand / model this might be ? I have some pics but need to figure out how to post them.

Thanks

John, my research seems to indicate that your charger/converter may be a Progressive Dynamics model Inteli-Power 4000 series unit, possibly specifically their 45-amp unit P/N PD4045. Does your system look like the unit shown in the two attached graphics below?

Hi Bill,

Thanks so much. That sure looks like the type I have. However, my breakers are doubles (4 sets of 2) and don't have the red covers. The plastic decorative cover and door are identical. The rest of the electronics looks the same as well. I'll look for info on the 60A version of this model to see if perhaps that is what I have. Certainly, you have gotten me into the ball park.

I would sure like to know what search criteria you used to find this info out ? I tried every combination of "born free charger converter" type words I could think of, inside and outside of this forum, with no luck. I'm always looking for new sources of reference info in order to be more self sufficient.

Thank you VERY much.

John.

i searched thru the various Progressive Dynamics products on the bestconverter.com website. BestConverter.com is an RV source for many brands and models of charger/converters. inverters and etc. I knew that Born Free was using Progressive Dynamics brand of charger/converters in later models of their Coaches.

The website link for your particular model is listed below.

http://www.bestconverter.com/4000-Serie ... c_138.html

I would not be concerned about the color of the AC breakers. Born Free probably installed a different brand of breakers when they setup the charger/converter for your particular coach.
