Remodel BF Mini

Hello,

This is my first post to this group. I just bought at 1997 BF Built for two Mini at 20'. The interior is in decent shape but really outdated and the floor needs to be replaced. The person I bought the rig from says that remodeling will bring the resale value down. Apparently, persons looking for BF want the original interiors?
Sorry if this is a dumb question. Just checking out what you all think. Thanks

We bought a 1993 Born Free 21 Presidential, about 10 weeks ago. It does not seem to have any structural issues. As far as we've determined the floor is solid. We have worked to fix every issue we find and add functionality we appreciate in an RV.

We have not made any decision based upon the next owner. For example there is one hanging closet in the BF located in the bathroom. it now has four shelves. Our view is this handier storage. We carry little in the way of dress clothes. We're RVers and the wrinkled look is acceptable. As to appearance I only have one person to satisfy, my wife. She still sees me as a 16 year old. Variety of dress is not too critical, we rarely go to the same church more than once.

Our rig is not quite as fancy as those pictured, though we have the same high quality cabinets, we have no leather in our rig. We also built our own dining table, not as nice as the one shown but effective in our smaller space.

The reality is it's a small space and to successfully live in it for extended time, for us the next 8 months, it has to fit your needs and not those of the next buyer. As you own it you'll figure out what you need.

We had never previously RVed when we decided to become full timers some 20 years ago. When we bought our first RV we parked in our front yard and immediately moved from our home into the RV to learn how to live in it. During that time we did a number of modifications to help it conform to us.

Have fun, making it your own is part of the fun.

Greetings pfsweets. Hears my 2 cents worth in regards to wondering about resale value if you do any mods the coach. First, did you make the purchase to enjoy or make the next owner happy? Of course you bought for you so don't worry about the next owner. Heck, you may keep it forever. With an NADA base average retail for the micro mini at $6370, not including any options, I don't think you could hurt yourself all that bad Any modifications you make should be done with good materials and good taste. Yes, not everyone has the same taste, but what I'm saying is don't go to any extremes like use a paint brush and make the interior pink and yellow and use egg crates for furniture. And if anyone has done this, well.....
I'm with bornnorm, make it your own and have fun.
