Generator and Battery Box sag

I'm new to the Born Free family and also a new member to the Leap'n Lions RV Club. Based out of Oregon.
I purchased a 1998 Born Free 24', rear bath with a Diesel powerplant.

The unit is in excellent (fantastic) shape with the exception of a serious sag in the generator and house battery compartment (drivers side). The compartment has separated from the upper shell by about an inch and a half. With a floor jack under the generator I can close the gap, but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and know of a fix.
My initial thought is in removing the seating and carpet above the generator to see how its supported..
Please let me know your thoughts.

Your the man... This is really great information and applies directly to my problem.. This coach has had its share of water damage. It's not a real hard fix. thanks for taking the time. I appreciate your quick response. Great reason to replace the carpet..

About 60,000 miles ago I had the same problem. My fix was to place a 1/2” steel plate under the floor carpet and then bolting through this to raise the generator back up tightly to the coach, my plate is about 14”x 20” and has worked perfectly for the last 10 years . This spreads the load over a wide area. The plate could be thinner, say 1/4 or 3/8

that looks like the direction I will need to go. The floor is sagging on that side and will need to be supported.

The reason that your plywood floor above your generator is sagging is because it got wet due to a water leak. In addition to fixing it with a metal support plate, you should also solve the water leak that caused the problem in the first place.
