Bathroom door handle

The door on our 1999 24RB bathroom started spontaneously opening. Turning a corner we'd hear a loud "THUMP" when it opened, and another one when it closed. Very disconcerting. I bought a new latch assembly, which didn't change anything.
Then I realized that the square stock which connects the inside and the outside assemblies was pretty loose. Took the whole works apart and cut some strips from a soda can to act as shims between the square stock and the assembly. No more loose assembly, and no more "THUMP".
