Dick Simpson Suffers Nasty Fall

Post by whemme »

Dick Simpson, former Born Free motorcoach owner, recently suffered a nasty fall. Following information obtained from his wife Nancy Simpson's Facebook postings.

Dick took an unplanned tumble down hard wooden steps up north hitting head first bumping down until slamming against basement wall. Had two miserable ambulance rides... One to Gaylord followed up with one to Grand Rapids when scans indicated broken neck at very top of spine and #3. Gaylord does not have appropriate services for spinal injuries. GR neurologist immediately had him in a full neck brace. Miraculously he has no broken bones, permanent injuries, and has not been in any pain. Three days later Dick was transferred to Marywood in EGR, a Catholic rehab facility. Lovely place with pleasant private rooms. Nice staff, good food, and welcome visit by a Sister. Dick has wooded view out picture window.

Dick doing well with rehab... Slowly but all forward motion. The food is excellent. PT and OT staff doing their job well. Incredibly, Dick has never had any pain! Many bruises and some torn skin. Some vision problems remain. Sutures out yesterday. September 23 set for discharge. Thanks for all your kind thoughts and prayers.
